Matt is smart. He knows it's about people and it's about potential. He's at a university that
  • has a fan base which sells out the first couple of games after a 3-9 season
  • shares his values for loyalty and doing things the right way
  • as a power 5 member, has the means to provide the financial compensation to take care of him and his assistants for a very long time, and to provide the facility enhancements to allow his program to compete with the best.
It's a match made in heaven. ISU will be a major player on the football landscape for many years to come!

I don't know if he was trolling or it's just a funny coincidence, but I loved seeing this on my feed as soon as I opened Twitter to read about the new contract

Anyone have what the prior assistant staff salary was?
https://www.desmoinesregister.com/s...onger-lowest-paid-big-12-conference/90728896/

That’s the most recent article I can find

Coach Matt Campbell's nine full-time assistants have a combined salary of $2,319,000, according to contracts the Register obtained through Iowa’s Open Record Act.

That’s ahead the staff salaries at Texas, Kansas and Texas Tech, but a long way behind the league-leading $4,337,000 that Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops’ nine full-time assistants make for 2016.

IOWA STATE 2016 ASSISTANT COACHING SALARIES

  • Jon Heacock, defensive coordinator/safeties: $454,000; $175,440 in 2015 at Toledo
  • Tom Manning, offensive coordinator/offensive line: $350,000; $90,998 in 2015 at Toledo.
  • Lou Ayeni, associate head coach/running backs: $300,000; $191,900 in 2015 at Iowa State.
  • Jim Hofher, quarterbacks: $235,000; $140,500 in 2015 at Nevada.
  • Alex Golesh, tight ends/recruiting: $215,000; $206,725 in 2015 at Illinois.
  • D.K. McDonald, cornerbacks: $200,000; $80,621 in 2015 at Toledo.
  • Eli Rasheed, defensive line: $200,000; $84,190 in 2015 at Toledo.
  • Tyson Veidt, linebackers: $190,000; $78,990 in 2015 at Toledo.
  • Bryan Gasser, receivers/special teams: $175,000; $72,360 in 2015 at Toledo.
  • 2016 Iowa State assistant total salary: $2,319,000.

Great job JP!! This HAD to get done, and you pulled it off.

Congrats to Matt Campbell and his family, and the assistants too. Well deserved.

Just don't get complacent now! :)

Kool-ade drinking here: Now let's win so we have to pay him $5M/yr!

On the realistic side, hopefully no Ferentz-like Hawkeye fan posts in the future.

Once again JP proves to be the most important figure we have had at our university in very, very long time. Locking him up through the GOR, and doing it early on is huge. We are set to be in a great position in 2024, which is important for the football program, atheletic dept, and university as a whole.

Great day!

I said a few times on here, even this week, that JP's overarching and existential goal had to be a competent, competitive football team in the 2023-2024 range.

Locking Campbell up through that period is the most likely way to accomplish this.

Heck of a day for the future of ISU football, sports, and the university overall. Kudos to JP for getting it done and the new Prez for letting him go and do it.

This is a really good point. This was the first time that Jamie had to work with the new president to get something done. It seems as though she let Jamie do his job.

Coach listens to Bruce and Stew’s podcast. It’s definitrely one of the better college football one about there.

Dear networks, thinking about a new hire? Don't hire this idiot!

Herbie's never been the sharpest tool in the shed. He's capable of following five or six teams, tops.

Don't hate on him just because his narrow perception of the college football landscape leaves him with few insights into the sport.
