I haven't re-watched them in awhile, but I could definitely believe this. Some of the Willem Defoe scenes were pretty cheese-worthy at the time. If they would have had better CGI, they could have really improved on a few things. It's possible my crush on Kirsten Dunst at the time may be influencing my fond memories.

I’m not seeing that, but the overall plot is an average high school kid learning to have faith in himself and overcome challenges. He made baby steps in Homecoming, then that started to crystallize on the bridge in Far From Home. It’s a process I expect to see pay off in No Way Home, when he learns to fully embrace the mantle of “hero”.
Is that what you’re referring to?
If so, I think they’re just showing that it’s a process. A concept which should resonate with Cyclone fans.
(BTW, that’s as opposed to having Peter Parker morph into a super cool party animal practically overnight, just because he got bitten by a spider)
That's exactly why I said it works so well to connect him to the MCU. And that part I love. I just don't think Spidey is getting enough props for being a stand alone badass

The problem is, a even a nascent superhero well into his development was in way over his head when asked to carry the pigskin in Endgame. Even with a super suit.
Which made the payoff from his horrified, “Kill Mode?!! What?!!! No!!” all that much better.
When he saved everyone in Infinity War, that was on his own, with only a secondary assist from the suit. And when he finally worked through Mysterio’s shenanigans and beat him, that was all him.
No Way Home and going forward are for Peter Parker to be totally badass. I’m just hoping Tom Holland is along for the ride down the road.
Agreed. He's the man going forward, which is what they are trying to build up. Should be awesome.
I'm also in the boat where I don't believe Spider-Man Homecoming gets as much credit as it deserves. In fact, after my first viewing, I only moderately liked the movie and resented some of the differences to the Peter Parker we are used to, which many of you have pointed out. I was too in your boat. However, since then after multiple re-watches, the movie has only gotten better and better with every viewing. The only thing that hasn't improved for me is the Vulture scene in the car, as that was one of the best scenes in all the MCU from the get-go and hasn't changed. I'd even say I have Homecoming in my top-tier MCU movies now.
As for Far From Home, that movie started out mid to mid-bottom tier ,and has stayed there or maybe even gotten slightly worse with every viewing. Don't get me wrong, Mysterio looked cool and Jake played him well. However, I've just never been crazy about the illusional structure of the character. Sure, it plays well in cartoons, but in live-action, I think I just want to see Spider-Man fighting a physical being much more so than any illusion or special tech. It just takes the verisimilitude out of the action.

Michael Keaton as The Vulture is god tier casting. Made me want to see him come back as Batman. Almost as important as the casting of Holland.
Yeah, Keaton was amazing. Like others said, he somehow managed to make Vulture a cool villain, which is impressive. My wife will always remember that car scene. I've never seen her so terrified in the theaters. I still remember her claws digging into me as that one went on.
Kit will play Black Knight who as far as I know isn’t an Eternal. Not sure who Millie is playing.
I believe it was the Neil Gaiman series. It was the first one they brought back after having skipping them in the 90s.

That was pretty good. I think that's where they introduced Sprite.
Maybe I'll reread it. I've actually thought about reading all the old Eternals stuff. Partially because I'm curious, partly to see if I can take it. I'm not as into Kirby stuff as an old guy like me is supposed to be.
