Here is a recent interview with the Sony Pictures Chief where he talks more about the Marvel/Sony deal falling through, as well as future plans for the character with 5-6 television series in development.

Apparently all our 80s and 90s favorite Marvel animated series will be available on Disney+ at launch. Man, I loved the 90s Spider-Man animated series, and it truly was that, combined with the Burton 89 Batman movie which hooked me on superheroes in the first place.

Not MCU related, but Peggy Carter actress Hayley Atwell has announced that she will appear in the next two(!) Mission: Impossible films.
Finally got to sit down and watch Spider-Man: FFH for the first time last night. I thought it was pretty good. The first hour I was kind of underwhelmed, as a majority of the action had been revealed in the trailers. The second half of the film was far better and the final action sequence would have to make a list of the 10 best VFX scenes in the MCU.
Jake Gyllenhaal was a pretty good villain and you can tell he enjoyed himself. I liked Homecoming better than this film, but it was still enjoyable.
Lets get to the fun stuff: after watching this film I have no doubt that Spider-Man will return to the MCU, but after he makes a brief appearance in the Sony-Verse. The ending of FFH, especially the first post-credit scene, did a lot for both Sony and Marvel in terms of world building:
The reveal, by none other than JK Simmons(I don't know how I avoided that spoiler), that Peter Parker is Spider-Man was actually great. It builds off the ending in Homecoming with Aunt May finding out, but also is a nod to Tony Starks reveal at the end of Iron Man. The entire film is building to Spider-Man taking over for Iron Man and now we get Peter Parker taking over for Tony Stark.
There was a brief line in FFH where Peter says something along the lines of "I'm just a 16 year old kid..." so they made sure to put his age out there. It's super convenient for 23-year old Tom Holland to step away from the MCU for a few years. I'm sure we'll get nods in the Sony films (Venom 2, Morbius, etc) that Peter Parker has likely gone under the protection of Happy Hogan and Pepper Potts. Maybe we'll see Tom Holland play mentor to a character like Silk or Spider-Woman and springboard those characters to prop up the Sony-verse. In Disney's case, the Phase 4 slate is already set for the next two years so there isn't a rush to get Spider-Man back onto the big screen.
I would bet that in about 3-4 years the Sony-Disney contract will magically allow Spider-Man/Peter Parker to re-appear in the MCU. This Peter Parker would be an older/more mature Spider-Man and would be the slam-dunk choice to be the next leader of the Avengers.
I like your thoughts. However, keep in mind that no Sony/Disney deal likely means no Pepper Potts or Happy Hogan anymore. They aren't the only one down that rabbit hole off limits the more you think about the separation of the two worlds.
