Marial Shayok Commits to ISU

Not sure what the excitement is about. Under 9 ppg and 33% from beyond the arc is underwhelming and not what final four teams are built on.

Hopefully our offense brings out something in his game but right now I am containing my excitement. Not to mention this helps zero for the uocoming season which I am most concerned about
Not sure about the comment but kudos for hitting keno for every kind of "like".

Some random background. His dad knew Manute Bol, got out of Sudan in 90s during one of their perpetual conflicts to play BBall. Marial was born in Canada.

ISU BBall has had good luck with Canadians!

And less known fact, have educated a lot of Sudanese (many now South Sudanese) gov't officials over the years too (mostly Ag+economics stuff)

So you are inventing a new term; minutes (usage). It is either one or the other.
No, It's not either one or the other. I was alluding to those that are just taking his minutes and thinking he'll be a better player with more.

In a discussion of extrapolating what his play will be with more minutes and possessions here, it's important to note that he had a high usage at UVa, one he won't have the benefit of here.

Babb was also on a way worse PSU team than Shayok. He is a solid get for us.
Oh, and btw we still have 3 open scholarships for next year.

Fran's great, but he's going to have to learn how to spell Wigginton soon. ;)

@FranFrachilla Not the Keystone Pipeline, but @CycloneMBB now officially has Canadian pipeline: Ejim, Mitrou-Long, Wiggenton and now Shayok. Lot of energy
Should have gone back another year or two, Fran.

ISU has continuously had at least one Canadian player on the roster since 2008 - ten seasons this fall. Half of those years more than one Canadian.

He may pan out to be a really good get for ISU.

Yes, he only scored about 9 points per game, but this was on a Virginia team that only scored 66 points per game and was known for the slower pace and concentration on defense. He scored about 13% of his teams points (similar to MT for ISU) and was the second-leading scorer on the team.

It will be interesting to see how he fits in with ISU's offense, considering the program he played in the last 3 years.
