Did you see the couple of minutes that HC ran the point and Monte was on the bench? White-knuckle couple of minutes.
No kidding. Cooke is about Monte at 20% health . . .

CW made a point yesterday on the radio that didn't really surprise me. Monte had been struggling before he hurt his shoulder and he basically said Monte is playing up the injury a little bit and it could be more mental than anything. If he can't shoot he needs to getting 10 assists instead of 2 assists.

That's what his goal needs to be in these games IMO. Get about 12+ assists and don't worry about scoring. Leave that up to the other guys.
They won't be giving him cortisone shots before every game. They don't do those on a day-by-day basis.
If he had one prior to OU I wouldn't expect another one for awhile.
Whatever the issues are, can ISU's offense be sufficiently effective without a credible scoring threat and/or scoring at point guard to make any kind of tourney run? The offense can be effective, but can it be effective enough to overcome the defensive rebounding and defense issues?
Yes, ISU did recently play KU and OU very well without scoring from the point guard, but in the end, those were both losses.
if I was Iona I would sag off Morris and make him show he can shoot it.
Haha, if we needed to be experts on things before we comment on for this board, there wouldn't be many of us here. However, there are a lot of people (including myself) that have met with orthopedic surgeons for shoulder issues, and through that, have gained knowledge I didn't previously have. The fact that Monte said he hopes to be 70% by Thursday, almost 3 weeks after he injured his shoulder, tells me that it is more serious than we have been hoping for/told. I know Monte and team will give it their all, though. GO CYCLONES!
jbhtexas;5149901 Yes said:True enough, but we don't play current or former #1 talent in the first two rounds.
16 assists would be even better. That's what his goal needs to be in these games IMO. Get about 12+ assists and don't worry about scoring. Leave that up to the other guys.
Almost 3 weeks? He hurt his shoulder getting fouled on the 3 pointer late in the KU game didn't he? It won't even be 2 weeks by the time they play Iona.
Even though AJ is a PG I'm guessing we see MT on him a lot. This will let MM rest a little on D.
This Iona team will all be about shooting threes. We certainly over power them inside but we've got to execute the pick and roll and 3pt shot if we are going to control this game.
