Looking At Texas

We need to be great on first down. If we let Texas get us in 2nd/3rd and long situations where they can pin their ears back and go after Purdy, we will struggle offensively.

I would love it if Breece had a statement-game for the Heisman. Something like 32 carries, 225 yards, and a couple TDs would be symbolic of a good day for our offense.

I expect Texas will try to establish the run. If that fails then Tom "offensive genius" Herman will rely on Ehlinger to turn into Superman to bail Texas out as usual.

Damn, it looked to me like Rose was limping as he walked off the field after the game. Concerned me at the time but I forgot about it til now. I think he only played one or two possessions in the 2nd half so now I’ll go back and watch his last couple series and see if there was a play where he seemed to get injured. He is just a dude, probably the best defensive player in the conference. We need him at full speed.
I remembered texting my brother that Rose looked a little gimpy after a play so I looked back at it. Rose got a sack at 4:53 (time of day) and he looked a little gimpy getting up after that. That would have put it at the start of the second half. If that has anything to do with it, he played a lot of game after that.

Occasionally giving it to Breece on third and long can make them think twice on a jailhouse blitz in those situations. Especially if you can get him outside the tackles.

re: Mike Rose

Someone in the other thread said core injury. Others have said leg.
That makes me thing groin injury. I've had them, I remember when Alexander Robinson had one. They are (can be) ever so slight when they happen. Sometimes you think you can play through them but then you immediately realize you can't. So if Rose played for awhile after the injury happened, again, that aligns with my assumption.

He can take my groin if it helps him play Friday.

When Mike was walking off the field something didn't look right. The game is re-airing on FS2 right now, or you can find the replay. It's at 2:54:10. Hopefully he's good to go by Friday.

Just for grins, What if we put Hall in the slot and Nwangwu in the backfield. Kohlar at TE Shaw at wide out as well as Hutchingson. This will then put Hall on a Linebacker with Nwangwu able to get to the edge should we decide to run it. Speed and Deception.

Or or, we don't take Hall out of the backfield considering he's playing at a Heisman level back there? ;)

I don't disagree!!!! I don't think its a ALL game thing .I just think that Hall is a better Receiver than Nwangwu.. And whats not to like about catching lighting in a bottle at the slot?

Maybe we can leave hall in the backfield and put Lang in the slot since I hear he has some of the best hand of the RBs. Maybe that could work?

I’d settle for 20 carries for those 225 yards and two touchdowns.

I’m not counting the reception TD’s.

iSU running game is good enough to hold onto the ball. tu 2 interceptions and a fumble.

I think we lose. IIRC, the last time Jay Jordan was the only one to pick a Cyclones loss, we got punked by OSU at home (last year).
