Larry out at CSU - Denver Post

Several positive tweets about LE from his former players. Some players boycotting practice over news of LE firing.

In any case, the program had not been setting the world on fire.

Doubt that anyone who has been around ISU athletics for awhile could find this surprising. Larry obviously has demons that are chasing him hard, and the drinking and partying and abusive behavior allow him to release those demons. He's basically Bob Knight II, with even less self-control.

Have to admit that he always got the best from his players, at least when he was here. But I don't think I'd want my kid playing for him, unless he 110% knew what he was in for.
The only difference between Larry and what Bill Fennelly is doing is Deb Fenelly's influence. Both coaches are verbally abusive and combative at times. If Larry is at ISU, we are defending him as we are Bill

I really can't feel bad for Larry at this point. Whatever you think about his methods it is a fact that he was told in no uncertain terms by CSU to knock it off, and yet he still decided to behave in a manner that did not meet the standards that were established for him.

I hope this does not lead to a relapse from him.

The thing is, there are thousands of coaches who would love to be in Larry's highly paid shoes and could probably get his team just as competitive.....without being a total ass. The same could be said in corporate America. If those are your techniques at work, I hope you have an emergency fund and a good lawyer. People no longer want to.deal with ******** on the job or gym because frankly they interact with these people more than their own families everyday...not worth it and the talent will go elsewhere.

So, he's resigned from CSU and his salary ends June 30. In an earlier thread on him, I got flamed by a few for saying I wouldn't want him representing ISU. The way that I see it, the BB program is a marketing and PR tool and Larry always seems to be in that area of a "culture of fear and intimidation." That's just not good PR for the university and his track record is not THAT good that we could be sure he would produce a consistent winning team.

He seems to have a great basketball mind; I hope that he can find a way to use it somewhere, without all his typical tactics. And, let's hope that he can avoid any kind of relapse, as was stated by another poser.

@ISUChippewa is a pretty good poster and not a poser, but I can appreciate the light shade being thrown.

If he could coach without his typical tactics, he'd have done it already. Guys like that only know one way.

Not sure there is an endless line of Bill supporters?

Sounds like the relapse ship sailed long ago? Just reading between the lines here...

Oh, there most certainly are. It's like a cult and if you are not on on board 100% you are branded as a blasphemer and defender of a generation of "weak" spoiled kids.

I don't like Bill for the same reason I do not like Larry. I appreciate the 2000 team of Larry's and appreciate some of the NCAA run teams of Bill's but I don't like either guy. Not at all.
