NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Still the 5th best TE last year despite all the non-football stuff. While no longer ultra-elite, he's still pretty good. And had the rest of the skill position players not been total buns last year, putting up the numbers he did would have been still worth it.
He's still plenty effective. Need an actual WR who is good. Hopefully they do something in the draft to help with the pass rush.

This to me seems like a home run. Dont have to pay him, plus you get 4 picks, including an additional 1st round pick for this year?

Take Jeremiyah Love at 9 and the best OL available. Win, win, win.

Now, if Kelce announces his retirement then it has a chance to be a perfect offseason
The extra picks may be needed to jump ahead of NO at 8 if they really want Love. Otherwise still a good return and frees up some more cap space too. Hate to lose our best DB but the writing was on the wall that it was possible they may have to trade him as he was going to cost a lot of $ to keep around.

I'm also in the camp that I'd be fine with Kelce playing another year as long as it's on a reasonable $ ammount. No way you give him the $15 mil or so he made last year, maybe not even half that. Between him and Taylor they don't really need to break the bank on his last year they have plenty already so hoping if he does return he helps the Chiefs out with the cap situation and plays for a much reduced rate than he has.

I will take that trade. Chiefs have been good at drafting the CB position. Cannot give a top tier contract to a CB right now with the money and offensive issues the Chiefs have.

A first, a fifth and a sixth seems like a good haul for McDuffie. I trust that Veach can find a good rookie CB for not much dropoff. Key to me is improving the pass rush, then the secondary does not get exposed as much.

Supposedly restructuring Jones now. Not sure if I like this one regardless of the cap space it gives this year.

Kelsey is still playing at a high level, the question is "how much does he want to come back for one year?" A couple of million, sign him yesterday, if he wants the salary he had last year, you have to encourage him otherwise walk away. The guy does not need the money, he and his brother make more doing their podcast than what they were making playing.
Hate to see McDuffie go, but as others have said, you just cannot pay that much for a cornerback, and KC has done a great job in the past of finding quality CBs in the draft. Now KC has the draft capital to either move up if there is a player they think will be gone by nine when they pick or ride it out and fill other holes on the roster.

NO will go with a WR to help Shough and play opposite Olave.

Not to mention if they restructure Jones they'll have somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 mil to spend this offseason

Have to think most of that is going to be to resign the few players they want to keep, and then depth on the D line. The Jets used the franchise tag on Hall, so they are paying him $14.3 million for the upcoming season. They stated on the NFL sat channel today that the Jets must have heard teams were willing to go above that price if they put the transition tag on him, so it would have cost them more to sign him if he could go out and try to get a deal.
Need to find a way to get Love now more than ever, in this upcoming draft

I think he still falls to 9 regardless. Other teams in front of KC have much bigger needs than RB

New Orleans scares me that they will take him at #8, Washington is at #7, wonder if they would consider one of our 3rd round picks to slide down to nine?
I think NO goes WR, especially if Tate or Tyson are still available

RB isnt a huge position of need. The WR's and defense is in much worse shape
Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi said Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love is a “three-down running back.”
The Titans, who have the fourth pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, could be in the running for Love, who impressed at last week’s Scouting Combine. “Anytime you can get a running back like that, especially a three-down running back, that can play in the pass game as well and be able to take over a game, you’ve seen guys in the league now that can do that,” Borgonzi said when being asked about taking a running back in the top five. Titans head coach stressed the importance of a good run game in taking pressure off of second-year QB Cam Ward following Ward’s massive rookie year struggles. The Titans could save around $7 million in cap space if they release Tony Pollard, 29, with a post-June 1 designation. If he lands in Tennessee, Love would likely be the centerpiece of Brian Daboll’s offense, relegating Tyjae Spears to breather back status.

If they think that highly of him, then they should take him at #4, the three teams in front of them will not take him that high. Love's testing at the combine has everyone thinking he is the best athlete in the class, but this is a strange year where the best players are not in the spots where teams are willing to draft a player in that position in the top 5. Robinson was the 8th pick in the draft, you would have to go back a long ways to find a running back selected in the top 5 picks.
Barley in 2018 was the 4th pick, so it's been some time.

Strongly disagree. The offense last year desperately needed a back that was a real threat. Now do they need to go out and sign the top FA RB or burn that draft capital they just got to go up and get Love? No, but they need to commit at least something more than a 7th round pick on an RB lottery ticket.

They could probably get someone like Tyler Allgeier for a reasonable price and could look at taking Love's teammate, Price in the 2nd round. They can use both the 1st rounders on defense. Sign a couple of veteran receivers, one being Tyquan Thorton and actually throw him the damn ball and I think they'll be in ok shape.

Are you referring to the Chiefs? Because my comment was made in regards to the Titans

Also, mentioning KC needing a threat out of the backfield and Tyler Allgeier in the same post seems a tad oxymoronic to me

We have been going round and round on here about the Chiefs RB, they are below average, and scare no one which allows the defense to play differently than if they had a RB that was a threat in the backfield. I like the other RB out of ND, but Love is the difference maker in this offense. Price should be a decent back in the league, but Love would totally change the offense and how teams defense it. Many are saying that Love will be taken in the top 5 of the draft, maybe, Tennessee could take him, but after that only NO needs a back. If he gets by the Titans at #4, I would be calling Washington to see what it takes to move ahead of NO if the price is too high, you gamble that he gets by the Saints, if they take him then that means either one of the top two WR are still there or you go with Bain and figure you can get a WR or anther D Line guy at #29.
