Any chance Wilson comes back as a Super Senior?
Yes
Any chance Wilson comes back as a Super Senior?
I always felt Tayvonn Kyle deserved more playing time, especially this year where our corner depth was lacking. You think this is why he didn’t play muchThe others were Dallas Taylor-Cortez, Jaeveyon Morton, and Tayvonn Kyle. So Kyle and Scates were the two of the four that stuck around after it.
While I was looking that up I also found this article: https://www.thegazette.com/iowa-sta...ted-to-hug-matt-campbell-after-his-touchdown/
It seems like he and Campbell had a pretty special relationship.
Couldn’t theoretically like our whole line go to the draft?I disagree somewhat there. Yes, they had games where they were under-whelming. BUT... if we actually settle in on a system instead of fluctuating between gap and zone and Remsburg stays healthy, he's a battle tackle than Derek. Derek did a really pretty good job but he was playing out of position much of the year.
Hopefully Downing comes back but potentially if he doesn't - Hufford slides back to his more natural spot of guard and ideally we have another tackle playing tackle.
I like the pipe line. I think having a condensed box, fluctuating schemes, injuries and yes, inconsistent performance in part due to injuries and guys playing out of position really held this group back.
Do they need to take a step forward and get better? Well, yeah, obviously. But I think the same could be said for just about every unit on the field. CMC would probably include the coaches in that if past press conferences are any indication but I will leave that to him
Is everyone expected to stay and not go to the draft? We usually question our OL potential before a season. This years less than stallar performance may be bringing back that mantra.
Personally I think there is enough depth there that it will be fine next year. Maybe Campbell does some OL coaching change as well?
I think a major thing that will be a problem is that our receivers are young and inexperienced at the college level. We are bringing in a bunch of talented freshman but they’ll be led by who? Sean Shaw? He’s gotten about as many targets as Dekkers has. Freshmen in college are thinner, not as strong, and not developed as much physically - they’re only 18-19 years oldI don't think we know what we have yet in guys like -
- Daniel Jackson, showed glimpses as a freshman, don't think he was fully healthy this year
- Aiden Bitter, made some sweet catches as a freshman maybe against KU. Could surprise us
- Darien Porter, as others have mentioned on this board he was a stud on special teams all year
- Jaylin Noel is going to be a good one
I felt like Milton was a solid option especially after he put on some muscle. Yea Noel is good but I haven’t seen a ton of spark from him so far to be honest. Other than getting a lot of playing time and catching a few 5 yard screens a game. I’d be inclined to play Milton over him. Scates has a ton of talent so maybe even him as well. Although obviously Hutchinson made it tough for themMilton and Scates are leaving because they’ve been recruited over. Not because they don’t like Dekkers.
I wouldn't mind that but I have no idea. I am excited to maybe see what Bitter and Potter can do along with Andersen, Gaines coming in and Jackson.Any chance Wilson comes back as a Super Senior?

No, it’s because when he played last year and the first part of this year he was getting burnt and missing tackles. He severely lacked at the second corner. Noel has lots of potential, but he's right when he said that he didn't really bust anything open last year. And that’s why you’re a message board commentator.
When I watched him, he had a few unfortunate breaks. Like he’d give up a few deep plays but was right on themNo, it’s because when he played last year and the first part of this year he was getting burnt and missing tackles. I thought one of Noel’s weakest areas was the return game. He seemed scared back there. Hopefully it gets better with experience. But he muffed a couple punts, and it seemed like he fair caught every punt I saw him receive. Maybe the idea was to get him used to it since he’s a freshman and has years left but he wasn’t great in that areaNoel will get an entire offseason in Andrews’ program. As a true freshman, he pushed out Tarique Milton, a 4 year player (marred by injury) who still showed big play potential this year.
Noel looked especially dangerous in the return game, something non-existent save for a few huge Kene moments the last few years.
Noel showed great flashes. If he improves every year, watch out!
I guess I saw something different. But the stats say he was 5th in the league in kick return average and 4th in the league in punt return average. As a freshman. And he was the only player in the top 5 of both lists.I thought one of Noel’s weakest areas was the return game. He seemed scared back there. Hopefully it gets better with experience. What they heck were you watching? Rarely any hesitation on his returns and he probably returned more punts than we have returned total in the past 3-4 years combined. His biggest issue was breaking the last tackle to take it the house. Hopefully with additional strength and maybe a little more elusiveness he will be taking a few to the house in the near future.I thought one of Noel’s weakest areas was the return game.
