Jeff Orr...Super fan?

What's telling to me is that no one sitting around Orr had any kind of reaction or shocked facial expression when Orr supposedly said bad things to Smart. People who know him say he would never use the N word or something like "go back to Africa." Some have said he just called him a flopper. Smart has a history of inappropriate behavior, and it wouldn't surprise me if he's lying - making up the race card - to absolve himself from accountability.

this.

but obviously being suspect of the whole situation just makes us racists too. just ask ISUfan22

Not at al what I said but keep on trolling - it's within you.

I wonder why multiple unrelated sources are posting on twitter about this guy and saying they remember him from their playing days. Big deal for players removed from CBB for years would recall a single fan.

Its interesting how this thread has gone from not knowing what the fan said, to assuming he said the N word and Marcus Smart reacted to that. Fact is, we don't know yet. Smart may have reacted to a typical fan remark, not racist. Smart lost the game by losing his cool. He was losing it in the Iowa State game too. If the fan made racist remarks, should be a lifetime ban.

Don't forget we had a fan get in Bill Self's face after the KU game last year, and that fan still gets an all access pass to everything ISU.

I'm guessing what was said in this instance was, "Are you happy now, you smug bastard?"

They recall him using racial slurs? I must have missed those...

Back in my day.....Jeff Grayer went up into the stands before a game against Mizzou to confront a group called....."The Antlers". Was saying garbage about his mother which if I recall was sick at the time. This TT fan reminds me a bit of those losers. And if he said what some think.....then he should consider himself lucky Smart just pushed him.

Grayer spoke with the Antlers; he didn't get in a physical altercation with them.

Based on the tweets from prior Big 12 athletes it's kind of Orr's MO to be saying stuff that's really out there. It could be there were no reactions from those around him because they have become numb to it already.

That's a compliment to West Texas.

We don't know what either said. It is hard to get on Tech about this fan, unless he said something really bad, when a fan of our own went to the floor and said something to Self after a game.

If the people in a radius of 5 ft. or so around Orr didn't hear him use a racial slur, then I doubt it happened. I sure wouldn't take Smart's word for it.

I bet he called him a flopper, but Smart heard it as something else due to the noise.

Heat of the moment, possible slurs, etc., at the end of the day Smart can't be putting his hands on fans. He just can't.

I think the Big 12 office will give him at least one game, if not two, to think about how to deal with this in the future as this will not be the last time he hears bad things from the crowd. NCAA or NBA.

Agreed we should not be ones to cast stones given our 15 seconds of fame

Jeff Orr has hopefully seen his last TTech game. What a loser. Has been a loyal fan and nothing could punish him more than a life ban and I sincerely hope that is what happens. Anyone the age off Jeff calling names (especially a word as strong as the n word) to a 19 yr old kid is just ridiculous.

Granted, Smart shouldn't have reacted the way he did but you can understand in the heat of the moment like that where he is coming from.

4 game from suspension for Smart and a lifetime ban for Orr from all TTech athletics sounds about right. Jeff Orr's character is more stained after this incident than Smart's.

LOL, lifetime ban. Good one.

Grayer spoke with the Antlers; he didn't get in a physical altercation with them.

I wasn't there but what I was told happened was that they had a sign about Jeff's mom and Elmer Robinson just calmly took a couple steps up into the crowd and either told them to put the sign down or they just did it when he started walking up there. I think it was during the pregame warmups but just going by what I remember being told.
I've heard the antlers would knock on players hotel doors all night long the night before a game and one time parked cars to pin the team bus in at the hotel as they were trying to leave for the game.

Why would you throw out a racial slur when your own team has a black coach and black players? If that is true (and we don't know if yet), then he is not only ignorant but a hypocrite. Again, not saying it did happen.

It is also a possibility that Smart misheard him. Would love to know what exactly was said.

As loud as that place was, i'm still trying to figure out how smart (on the floor) heard and pinpointed what an individual fan said. This is why i can understand if it was a misunderstanding.

However, if that fan really did say anything racist, he should be banned from the arena for the rest of the season (and probably next season) as a reminder to never do that again (and he should be banned from ALL big 12 arenas for the same amount of time).

I don't doubt that someone said something inappropriate (or something mistaken for being very inappropriate), but let's all stop before we keep calling out one guy who may or may not have said something. This "poor" guys life has just been turned upside down by simply attending a basketball game due to Smart's inappropriate behavior.

If this guy was really yelling racist remarks i would HOPE those sitting around him would come forward and tell the truth. Also, if this was not the first time he's done something this bad, then shame on those around him for not bringing it up sooner.

Yeah, that's what makes me feel he didn't say the "n" word -> which btw needs to be removed from ALL people's vocabulary IMHO.
