***ISU WNBA Thread***

Typically any team will avoid picking someone in the first round that plays the same position as their best player. Unless its a 2 or 3, they can play together if they complement the team style.

Ok. As part of the trade involving the #7 draft pick used to select FORWARD Angel Reese, the Lynx acquired 6'3 FORWARD Sika Kone and 6'2 FORWARD Alissa Pili, both of whom play the same position as 6'1 FORWARD Naphessa Collier.

Not that it really matters, but I'd like to see the Lynx do well and believe Reese would have made them better.

It’s starter vs depth. They don’t want to undercut their star. Doesn’t help them win.

BC playing at perhaps her highest level right now. She is now around the #3/#4 position in the league for 3-pt shooting percentage.

I was happy to hear that after Miller was hurt the coach told Bridget she needed to shoot more. I have watched over the years as she became a player who was called upon for defense and would pass up shots to give to someone she thought might have a better shot. Plus she had a couple players (who are now gone) who if they got the ball were going to shoot no matter if they had a good shot or not.

Mansfield was a very solid PG for ISU for two years, but that got overshadowed by immediately following the starting PGs, in order:

Frese (3 seasons)
Wilson (3 seasons)
Medders (4 seasons)
Lacey (3 seasons)

She's turned that into a very nice career in the WNBL in Australia. Per her wikipedia page, her big break in the WNBL came in the 15-16 season when Erin Phillips got injured and Mansfield had to take a bigger role. Big ISU connection there, as Phillips is the wife of ISU great Tracy Gahan.
