ISU Opens at -14.5 at KU

...

Baylor on the other hand...I could see us slipping up there. Hope not, but Baylor isn't terrible (despite what happened agains WVU). they will also be fighting for bowl eligibility when they play ISU

i think we eat Brewer up. look at what we did on the whole to two talented quarterbacks the last two games.

Still stopped TT. Also, KU is not the '97 Cornhuskers either. I think they average around 145 yards rushing and a little under 200 passing.

Teams have stopped trying to run against ISU. I think there are yards available but they get impatient. Tech didn't even had the ball off hardly ever in the 2nd half. I think KU gets more running yards than any team against us in some time.

I think we man up in the secondary and sit on the run. Six in the box with maybe 4 going in to stop the run or apply pressure and 1 spying.

The KU quarterback isn't going to the run the ball unless it is absolutely necessary. They are going to try to establish the run (just like us) and are going to hit a brick wall like they did against TCU...and then resort to the pass, which was effective against TCU. I view our secondary as better than TCU. KU will get impatient and that is when the mistakes will happen...

KU has a crazy number of takeaways. Many seem like luck, but when it happens game after game it’s likely something they’re good at, in combination with the opponents not focusing due to it being KU.

A good running back and an opportunistic defense is how they’re having a peak year. If not for the Nichols St disaster they’d be 4-4 with KSU left on the schedule.

Not sure about all the other turnovers, but the one that they got from TCU came right when TCU was ready to punch in the winning TD, and it was a basic gift from a bad exchange.

KU will make mistakes whether impatient or not. It is what they do.

We play Baylor at home. It will most likely be cold. They’ll be an uncomfortable Texas team with nothing to play for.

Brock has never played in cold wet conditions. He’s from Arizona. If Kansas is able to focus on shutting down Montgomery and rough up Brock a little bit, it could be a long day.

whole lot o' nope. respectfully disagree. Kansas is terrible.

I hope your are right. Baylor if fighting for bowl eligibility. I think ISU is better but sometimes the better team doesn't win.

I haven’t looked at the numbers, but they’re probably playing at a similar level as Akron. There’s no argument that we should beat them, but I think the spread is accurate and it’s a frustratingly close game for longer than we’d like.

More of their hot takes on the game. Almost all think they’ll get smoked. Some pull it off topic with their coach on the hot seat. And it appears a couple think this will be Purdy’s first start?
First road start - which it technically is, but he played nearly all of the game in Stillwater.

Not sure what to think of the spread in this game.

ISU starts a true freshman at QB who will be making his first road start, and KU plays significantly better at home.

ISU also just lost a starting defensive lineman for the year against Tech with a hamstring injury.

Not sure how to feel about KU beating TCU going into this game either. It probably gets ISU's attention a bit more, but the Jayhawks should play with a bit of confidence.

EDIT: Check that. I guess there are a couple of guys who ignore this guy and think it is his first start. I stand corrected.

As the FS1 announcers pointed out 1,000 times on Saturday, the problem with playing Kansas at home is that the atmosphere is so bad and there are so few fans in the stands the atmosphere is much different than every other game you play in college and the game is eerily quiet.

The problem with that is there are actually quite a few ISU fans making the trip and they will do all they can to make this a home game for ISU.

Spread staying rock solid at -14.5...not much action right now...or interest from the bettors. Will be interesting to see where it heads as the bigger fish buy in.

Yeah there’s a couple that are straight up talking about the curse of a quarterback’s first start being against Kansas and how those quarterbacks always put up huge numbers.

PS: I thought Iowa State owned the rights to that claim?

Yeah, I already added that to my comment. There are always people who don't even read what is in the thread before posting. The guy a few post above them laid it all out for them but they couldn't even read it correctly.

I think there is something to what the one guy said about KU being an easy road game for a kid to get his feet wet. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if sometime in this game Re-al gets a few snaps to get a taste of Big 12 football.

That would be fantastic and is something JP can market. I imagine if this game were for a spot in the Big 12 title game it would look a lot like KC in March.

This guy is pretty funny

"This plays into mastermind David Beaty’s hands. We will shock them by having an empty stadium. We won’t let them know how tall our receivers are. He won’t announce Peyton Bender as starting quarterback until right after the kickoff. David Beaty has a Decided Strategic and Schematic Advantage. He’s a football Genius."
