Iowa State extends Pollard's contract through 2024

I am not anti Pollard but I really think people overate him. He is an accountant and great at making the best with less. He has done a great job of building us up to where we are. With that said I don't think he can necessarily take us to the next step. I don't think we should be getting rid of him or anything, that would be stupid, but I wouldn't be upset to see him go.
Yeah.. wrestling is like... the #5 sport at ISU at this point. And its probably closer to the #6 than the #4
Hi salary is public knowledge, as is every employee of all 3 regent universities. It is no secret.
I will agree he probably gets a little more credit than deserved. A lot has been built on massive increases in TV dollars which would have been likely to happen under any AD
That said, even if you subtract that, he's been overall a great AD. Everyone has their flaws, and there are certainly things i would disagree on, but we could have it a lot, lot worse.
Yes a lot is due to bigger TV contracts. But let's not forget how instrumental Jamie was in making sure ISU was still even in a spot to be a part of the contracts.

As with anyone in that type of leadership position, he's made some decisions that I don't agree with. But the vast majority of the things he has done have been great for Iowa State.
One of the best thing he has done is really grown the fanbase and he strikes a good balance between aiming high and knowing the program.

Don't get me wrong he is a great AD but I just think we are at a different stage and need a different skill set.
Thought it was stupid for Iowa to extend Kirkie to 2025.....this is worse.
I believe all these improvement were done on his watch.

Haven't always agreed with everything, but we are way better having him than not. As far as the wrestling thing it was in decline before he got here and I'm not really sure what it would take to turn it around. It's glory days were in the 70's and I don't really know what it would take to turn the program around and how to bring the crowds back.

Whether he's lucky, good, or both, a contract until 2024 is a long, long deal. That's a big risk we seem to take often.
New track to the east of towers by the new SB stadium? I never realized they were built till I went by it one day in the spring.
I think one thing would be to put some emphasis on it. Maybe it's an issue of basketball being at the same time but wrestling never really seems pushed. I see a lot more about Vollyball and track/cross country.
Bergstrom the practice facility (not Bergstrom the building) opened for 2004 spring practice, prior to Pollard's arrival (fall 2005).
He's been here 12 yrs it's not like you don't know what you're getting with the extension. If things go wrong you can always cut him loose, just throw in some for the buy out.

I'm not even arguing to move him along here, but we always end up having problems with buyouts. I have to think he got himself a decent one that we would struggle to handle.
