Iowa State extends Pollard's contract through 2024

Do we get to know the answer to the important question? How much does he get paid? Actually, he does seem to earn his keep financially.
Why so long? Three or four year extension wouldn't suffice?
I honestly can't believe people are still wondering if Jamie's earned his stay at ISU. The guy has done great things at ISU.

I agree, I'm also curious to see how he handles the future. Some of the sports are looking up and some are not; arguably, wrestling is not looking up and is garnering a lot of mixed reviews. Football is generally favorable, but it's distinctly possible that we will need to be finding new coaches in a few years again (which, if that is due to success by Campbell and Co., that's a good problem to have). Basketball has had mixed reviews so far, but isn't really in a "bad" place so to speak. Not really sure if we will have coach replacement issues there in the future or not (I personally don't think so in the next few years). Women's basketball has been up for a long time, dropped last year, and maybe has recovered some back this year. Fennelly has been here a long time and he's almost 60 years old. He could be done coaching before Pollard's next renegotiation.
I've thought Pollard has done well and things have generally trended upward since he's been here. Now the matter is keeping them up high (which, he only has so much direct say in, too).
if you dont agree that pollard is great for ISU, you dont know what youre talking about. I would imagine the long extension is due to him consistently getting higher caliber job offers. I was worried hed leave up until he bought a lake house last year in panorama.

I'm sorry to say this, for all of the wrestling fans out there, but the reality is that wrestling doesn't really matter much. You don't hire/fire renew/not renew an AD based on wrestling performance in this day and age. It's a niche sport that doesn't make money, and wouldn't even if we were more successful. Football and basketball are where the AD is judged, and where they get their contract renewals. Wrestling is back burner with the rest of the Olympic sports.
Some of us old timers remember the dark days. Jamie Pollard is a builder, and has built more with less (compared to other Big XII budgets) than Max Urick, Gene Smith, and (shudder) Bruce Van De Velde combined. Cyclone Athletics attendance and funding are just now starting to realize the turn around due to Pollard's efforts to reconnect with the "lost generation" of fans.

Good news, indeed. The profile of ISU athletics has never been higher, and Pollard is a big reason for that.

Yeah, but the funeral procession is only about 3 cars long, so traffic isn't really affected.
