That's part of the problem though. It isn't getting the attention the others get. It gets less than both volleyball and track/cross country.

Hell, look at how ISU sells tickets and that basically aligns with your list other than using that metric would bump gymnastics up to your second tier.

They actually sell tickets for wrestling, which puts it in tier 2 with WBB, VB, and GYM. The other sports don't charge admission (non-revenue), so they go in tier 3.

Look, I get it, this must be a tough one for fans of the sport to accept. I expect it would be for fans of any sport to come to grips with things when it's dying. So, I totally understand the reactions. It probably sucks to face that reality, and lashing out at the messenger is a lot easier. It doesn't change it though. The evidence is all around you. The dropped programs. The lack of coverage. The dwindling support. The glory days of the sport are unfortunately in the rear view mirror, and they aren't likely to come back. The world seems pretty okay with that. You're just taking longer to get there than the rest of us.

Of course it will be around for a long time. My point has never been that we should drop the program, or that it's going to completely go away. Only that we recognize a diminishing sport for what it is, and stop bringing up the ridiculous notion that we should use the performance of the wrestling program, or its funding, as any kind of measuring stick for the performance of the AD.

A perfect example of the lashing out i was just mentioning. For the record, I do like the sport. All of the men in my family wrestled. I used to call high school wrestling meets when I worked in radio, and enjoyed the heck out of it. This isn't about me not liking the sport. It's about recognizing where it stands.

This is a really wierd opinion about a sport that has been getting increasing coverage for years and has been growing at every level for a while. The Title IX decimations are in the past. Wrestling and Hockey are the only two non major sports whose championships make money for the NCAA rather than losing it.

Every sport that isn't Football, Men's Basketball, and in a few places Men's Hockey is a niche sport and revenue negative.
