I've used IE8 since it's first Beta without much of a headache. The final released version has been working great for me. And it's worked perfectly with WebCT since December, despite what ISU's computer group says.

I'd recommend upgrading.

every time I load a page I get this nag that I am "running with add-ons disabled, click here to manage,disable or remove your add ons."

How do you get rid of the nag?

I'm a pretty casual PC user and have been considering switching to Firefox. I don't really kknow or understand the benefits or the negatives, just heard Firefox was more secure and just generally better. I have protection for my PC that I got a couple of years ago, (Panda), and still have almost a year left on the subscription. Will Firefox run okay with Panda still installed?

If I do switch, do I have to transfer all my favorites and uninstall IE7, or will the new browser take care of all that? Thanks in advance for helping a dummy out.

Panda is fine, but when your subscription runs out get AVG or another free alternative. As for favorites, firefox will import them if you want. Firefox is good, but I wouldnt say you HAVE to switch if you like IE. Try out FF and see if you like it, you may, but its not a necessity.

I've never seen that. Do you Google Toolbar or any other toolbar installed?

You might try reading through some of the info here (even if you don't have Vista). Maybe it will help.

Not sure what you're doing, but you might be clicking the star with the green arrow thats in the toolbar, which adds the page as a new entry in the favorites bar. You want to click the favorites button and then "Add to Favorites...", which gives you the option to save it to a folder.

I figured that out by accident......thanks though.

I'm not sure if this is related, but my old IE on my home computer (I hadn't updated yet) had all sorts of problems opening hotmail until I upgraded.

Says you? How are you an expert on the subject? I use safari 95% of the time with no complaints. Safari 4 is fun to play with. Really, if I'm .000000200003002 seconds slower than somebody else, I don't care. I'm not in a race.

Safari 4 put the refresh icon by the RSS feed on the right side of the URL bar, making it easy for PC applehaters to find. The rationale is that if PC users can't figure out how to set the apple mightymouse to allow a right click function where you position your finger on the right side of the one button mouse. Think of what would happen if they had to look for the refresh tab on the left!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:biglaugh:
