I don't notice any real improvements. I'm not sure if there is a trick to it, but saving favorites is different. It used to let me save to different folders, but now it saves it to a tab. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but it's a bit irritating.
Yeah, I don't see any real benefit, either. The other bad thing is that I use IE Pro 7 (which has some cool features) as an add-on, and parts of it don't work yet.
We have IE8 and see no real advantage to IE6. IE8 supposedly is more secure. If you are a conservative browser, my advice is to keep your IE6. You already know that it works with all your software.
My wife is the primary IE user in the household. Personally, I much prefer Firefox. It is much quicker and I do not miss all the ads.

Not saying 8 is good, I've never heard any real horror stories about 7 but I became a Firefox guy before 7 arrived (That's the way I would tell you to go). But for the love of all Web developers, please go to something other then ie 6. Talk about an back assward Platform. It does nothing the same as any other browser and is not W3 compatible, 7 is better 8 is almost completely there. The sooner everyone moves away from ie 6 the better websites in general get. Also, don't limit yourself to just microsoft products. There are lots of good browsers out there. Firefox and opera are 2 pretty good open source options. (firefox is the better of the 2 in my opinion and is gaining market share everyday) . Or if you like the apple style some people love Safari. Google Chrome is around, but I don't like the monitering software inbeded in it, but they did some cool things.
OK, so I downloaded Firefox 3 and ran the setup wizard. Click on shortcut and the program wont run. Now what?
hmm did the setup wizard complete? Try uninstalling and reinstalling. I didn't have any problems when I installed a couple of weeks ago. How long did you give it to load? Firefox does take a little longer to load then ie on most machines. The one draw back I found with it. I'll check the firefox website and see if they have any answers

I second using Mozilla Firefox. I can't stand IE. Every time I try to close it on my pc, it "checks for errors", then re-opens. Not a fan at all. No issues at all with Firefox. Less pop-ups and just overall better, IMO...
Not sure what you're doing, but you might be clicking the star with the green arrow thats in the toolbar, which adds the page as a new entry in the favorites bar. You want to click the favorites button and then "Add to Favorites...", which gives you the option to save it to a folder.
I've used IE8 since it's first Beta without much of a headache. The final released version has been working great for me. And it's worked perfectly with WebCT since December, despite what ISU's computer group says.

I would stay away from it for a while. I've upgraded about half the machines I use around work and home to it and have run into a number of annoyances and conflicts with other software.
I have two machines that for whatever reason when I fire up IE8 it just sit and spins for about a full minute before it ever decides to load.
But, if you want, download it and see...every computer environment is different and for what you do it might not be problematic. Worst case, you can always revert to IE7 or FF or something.

Skip it. IE8 is still really really slow compared to other browsers. Take your pick at a better browser:
-Chrome
-Firefox
-Safari
-Opera
Safari? Really? Ill give you the others are good...but Safari has a long way to go to even be listed.
