Right......what does that tell you? Does it tell you anything that they just offered probably the second best back in the state?
Watch the film on Harrington. He has straight line speed, but he's not all that quick and I feel like it takes him a little bit to get up to speed. He's also not very big. Personally, I'm surprised that KSU offered. I thought he'd end up either playing FB at UNI or running track somewhere down south.
Why don't we just simplify things a little?

It's early obviously and a lot can happen but I think, as of right now, the linemen class is down. Like I said though, a lot can happen and there's a lot of things and people we don't know about. I don't think having Hill, Darboh and Rogers at the top is weak for Iowa and I don't think you can say adding Malloy, Bevins, and Seeley in next is down. I mean, the fourth best skill player has an offer from Iowa. So, in short I would just say we don't have the linemen to add in there yet. If there are a couple solid linemen that surface this fall, then this class, I would say, is relatively strong.
Yeah that's what I thought was missing. Typically, there's at least one or two standout o-linemen (Barrent, Hoch, Scherff, etc)
I was looking through the rivals database to see previous years state of Iowa recruits and just about every year had at least 8 kids get signed by high major schools.
The in state recruiting battles always are interesting to me and this year I really think we will win most of them.
Darboh, the top player in the state, will likely go to somewhere out of state. The next two top players in Iowa would be Rogers and Hill and I really think they are ours to lose. Add in Seeley if he commits and we will have 3 out of the top four players in Iowa coming to ISU. Really seems like it is just a matter of time before Seeley commits, Hill is solid to ISU, and Rogers has a good relationship with our coaches.
Now who does that leave Iowa with? They have offered Malloy, who I would like to see us offer. James Harrington, Nate Shaw, Keevon Bernstine, Wes Burnside?

If Darboh doesn't commit to Iowa, yeah, on paper ISU would have the better instate haul. I think we can all agree that whats on paper doesn't really mean a damn thing though.
I would say it does mean a little. If an Iowa recruit is offered and recruited by both schools and we get him I think that tells something. As far as guys like Jake Knott who just get an offer from one or the other, no, it doesn't mean anything.
I trust 100 percent in CPR. but I'm not sure winning the instate recruiting battle this year is much of an accomplishment. Seems like a down year to me after the top couple of guys. Just my opinion.

In and of itself, yeah, it doesn't mean that much. If Barkley Hill backed out on his commitment and went to iowa, ISU would find another RB. If Rogers got an iowa offer and committed, ISU would find another player to replace him. BUT, being that ISU basically hasn't beaten iowa head to head for an in-state recruit since Arnaud (unless I'm forgetting someone), I'd say that it is fairly significant news if in-state recruits start choosing ISU over iowa. IMO ISU isn't going to sweep the in-state kids they want anytime soon...iowa has too big of a fanbase and too much tradition to be skunked by ISU. But lately, ISU hasn't even gotten "their share". Looks to me like this is changing for whatever reason. And yes, that's a big deal.
As for your offer list (BCS offers):
Darboh: iowa, ISU, ND, FL, Nebraska, etc.
Hill: ISU, iowa
Rogers: ISU, Minnesota
Seeley: ISU
Malloy: iowa
Harrington: KSU
You mean the guy that got injured and isn't a spread style RB? Or the one that had two carries for 50 yards? 25 ypc sounds pretty good to me.
Exactly. He is 6'2" 190, runs a 4.42, and still has his senior season of high school football to play. This kid could be 6'3" 200-205 by the time he hits a college football field. Along with the crucial sack in the state championship game, he also had a wicked yet very talented one-arm while falling to the ground catch in the semifinals.
I was just told that young Mr Hill really likes CPR, and when Iowa offered he said "thanks for the offer, but I am going to Iowa State". The person who told me knows Barkley, and will be a FR on the ISU football team this fall. His team eliminated Barkley`s team in the playoffs last fall.
Iowa didn't want him anyway!!!!!! Sorry, I just always wanted to be "That Guy". Good for him staying loyal to ISU. Loyalty is a rare thing in recruiting anymore. You guys got a good one.
The one who was so over-hyped on this board because he was a four star recruit at Florida, who couldn't crack the rotation of RB's. Yeah that one. You realize A&M's defense that year was one of the worst defenses we played all season, and we hardly scored. We were the only team IRC that didn't score more then 25-30 points of A&M.
