In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

I've been there a couple of times. It's about what you'd expect from a Raising Cane's knock-off.
Yeah, I agree. It's good. They have a lot more sauces than Canes, including one that is a replica of Cane's sauce. Also their chicken comes in either regular or spicy. The spicy is better, in my opinion, but both are good.

If you are in the mood for Canes and want to stay in town, it's a fine alternative

When I was a student, I REALLY liked Battle's BBQ. They had a location on Welch. I think they moved elsewhere and closed down shortly thereafter... It was a really good lunch deal at the time.
Man, I went to the old battles in high school all the time. BBQ with texas roast and lemonade was amazing

Boy, disalvos. Haven't heard that in a long time. I think they were they in Colorado Junction?

OMalley and McGees would easily be one of mine.
I don't know what DeSalvos was. When and where was that?

Battles, O'Malley and McGees, and was it George's pizza on Main? I liked all of those a lot.

I bet desalvos has been gone for 20 some years now? They were in the CJ, I think where Pammel is now.

Jimmy B's Barbecue in Boone is run by a former Battle's employee. They have everything George had on his menu in Ames and more.
Jimmy’s is pretty good too. Haven’t been there in a while, but I always thought it was good for the cost. I really like Watcha Smokin but it is pricey.
