I agree with you but I'm not sure the Texas Bowl selection committee would agree. I think locally the Texas Bowl having the state of Iowa show up to Houston would be a pretty smart move but I think the committee would assume that most Cyclones/Hawkeyes fans aren't interested in a rematch (since there will be one anyway in IC next season). I am but I'd guess if we did a poll I'd be in the minority.

Even if both teams were eligible and slotted for the Texas Bowl, it wouldn't happen. You'd see a replay of the 2001 Alamo Bowl - Iowa vs. some Texas team.(TAMU? Baylor?) No way they'd take two teams from a small, far-away state who've already played once this year...reputation for travel or not.

I think ISU would need to win 2 out of the next 3 to avoid the Pinstripe Bowl.

Probable Big 12 Bowl Eligible Teams: (If ISU can become eligible)

Oklahoma State: BCS Championship
Oklahoma: BCS - Tostitos Fiesta
Kansas State: AT&T Cotton (SEC)
Texas: Valero Alamo (Pac-10)
Texas A&M: Insight (Big Ten)
Iowa State: Bridgepoint Holiday (Pac-10)
Baylor: Texas (Big Ten)
Missouri: New Era Pinstripe (Big East)

wow your dreaming, i like it, but i dont see it

I wouldn't want to play iowa again, no need to go 2-0 on them in one season. Their fickle fan base just couldn't bear it. I would rather play a much BETTER team then the little sqawks.

A 6-6 ISU football team got picked over a 8-4 Mizzou team, so I wouldn't be surprised if that happened again. Also, you would think the Texas Bowl would want a Texas team. Granted this situation will only happen if we become bowl eligible which I give us about a 30% chance of that happening.

you do realize that the Independence Bowl is no longer a Big 12 bowl tie in correct?

yes I do but we're not getting the Cotton Bowl. Shreveport is the worst Bowl venue I've been to. My point was I'd like a shot at The Chiz no matter where it was played.

I don't know...if ISU somehow goes 6-6, then they would have pulled off a HUGE upset over somebody, and that might make them appealing enough to get a Holiday invite. The league isn't going to do TAMU or MU any favors, so anything's possible.

More important than the location, payout, or "prestige," of these lower-tier bowl games is the matchup. So who do you want: Wash, AZSt., or Utah in the Holiday, Iowa, NW, or Purdue in the Texas, or WVU, Rutgers, or L-ville in the Pinstripe?

Bowl games have to think about the local economy AND ratings. If ISU and Iowa fans were all in Houston, very few would be at home watching the game. I sincerely doubt a rematch would ever happen unless it's for the national championship.

That said, I want any bowl, against any opponent. Period!

I would watch but I definitely wouldn't go. I've already seen this game in Ames, I don't want to travel 15 hours to see it again.

As for the more/less viewership, think of it this way, if Iowa and ISU were to play in a bowl you would get pretty much the whole state watching the game. Which, yeah, that would be a lot of viewers. But question, how many of you would watch the Iowa bowl game to 'support the state' or 'watch Iowa lose'? Probably several. So instead of having one bowl with the entire state watching you can have two bowls with most of our state watching plus most of another state watching. More viewers.

I'm in the 'watch Iowa lose' crowd btw.

I honestly don't watch their bowl game. I'll check in on the score if I remember that they're playing, but I usually have something else going on, even if it's XBox.

Missourah and A&M won't get any favors when it comes to bowl games. I don't think A&M will get picked very high in the order. If we become bowl eligible, I think we will end up in the Texas bowl. Missouri will probably get the Pinstripe, no matter whether they win 6 games or 8 games. I would bet A&M to the Holiday and Baylor to the Insight, just to spite A&M as well.

No way. I wouldn't want our bowl win tainted with Hocklogic.. "the hocks obviously didn't want to be there."

If ISU gets to bowl elgibility, it means that we've had one (or MORE, God willing) victories over teams who would abso-freakin-lutely DESTROY Iowa in a neutral-site game. So we're supposed to cheer for ISU to get matched up with a middle of the pack B1G team we already beat this year (back when our offense was still in transition)?

No, I'm thinking that the biggest demand for this matchup will come from Iowa fans desperate for a chance to not spend a full year as the in-state "little brother". We could do a lot better than Iowa.

Then you didn't travel to Idaho.

Shreveport is a good college football experience... huge grounds for tailgating.

The town is a dump, but the football venue is good.

Went to that game and thought is was the most boring city ever. As a 13 yr old all I could do during the day was sit in our hotel room and wait for bowl games to start. Dad seemed to have a good time at the casinos though, so good for him.
