I State logo

Because I believe that they're only going to stick with the "I-State" logo for a decade. So why give it time when I believe the change will be coming? They're just going to change it again in 10-12 years and we'll be repeating the cycle of trying to give Iowa State an identity. When clearly the schools with the recognizable identities are the ones that don't change the way they look every 10-12 years.

Why eat? You are just going to ***** it out anyway. Terrible argument.

I'd love to see us go with the white helmet and work some white into the uniforms. That would also stop all the comparisons to USC.

I have to say, I was glad they didn't use the white. I prefer the amount of white doesn't overshadow the gold, since gold is the secondary color. (obviously, road football jerseys need to be white unless we're going to pull an Oreogn) ... but white helmets, white pants, white numbering ... pretty soon, gold is relegated to stripes and trim.

Use ISU on the helmets and as the logo. Would you ever see Okie State switch from "OSU" to O State?

I did not vote for the I-State logo. I believe I went with the block-lettered "ISU". It was pretty apparent that the I-State was going to win based solely on the victory against Iowa that year. People were so caught up in the win that they naturally flocked to the closest option to those unis. I also love the fact that they gave us the options on a white helmet, only to switch it up and use the Cardinal. I personally thought all 3 choices looked better on white.

You have, in part, me to blame for that. I did not vote but instead emailed JP on the whole issue and told him part of the reason that I was not voting was the white helmets. He responded that the message had been received loud and clear (by many Cyclones) and that the helmets would not be white.

I guess I don't understand how people can ***** and moan about an accent (or shadow) color of dark blue but can want to replace some of our cardinal and gold with white in a very prominent place.

Once you have white helmets, then it's probably good to have white pants to match (cardinal on the road, maybe) ... eventually we might as well change our colors to cardinal & white.

Stupid. Just because whatever we have on our helmets, doesn't mean we need to call the team that. You don't ever hear Nebraska refer to their team as "N" do you? Or, Missouri fans, say, "Yeah! Go M!"

Does anyone have images of what the other 2 choices were in the poll? I have forgotten them completely.

I preferred an Iowa State or ISU logo generally but this one it ok. I liked the coloration change to the Cy logo.

For all of you thinking that the I State logo has a lack of identity and want to return to the swirling Cy, check out these:

cardinal logo - Google Search

redbird logo - Google Search

To me, I am so happy to see the IState logo. I was sick and tired of explaining the whole story about how we used to be the redbirds until that infamous football game where we swept a team off the field like tornadoes. If anything, we are the cyclones, and our logo should be a cyclone/tornado. And quite frankly, that is something Iowa is known for. Having Cy at games is fine, and as much as I thought the twisted cy was a cool image, it is totally confusing to anyone outside of the cyclone sports nation. And our switch on the logo was based on marketing analysis of market penetration of our logo, so the old logo wasn't "known." And as sharp as the blue was with the cardinal and old was, it IS NOT one of our colors.

I wear my ISU stuff with the new I State logo here in Wisconsin/Illinois, and people say "Iowa State, right?" When I used to wear the Cy stuff, "is that Illinois State?"

The mascot and the logo are too different things. I see Cy on a lot more gear thatn I do Herky, for examople. The new logo is more BCS. Our old logo was more WAC/Sun Belt like.

Exactly. How many BCS schools have a cartoon mascot on their helmets? VERY few....Arizona St, Oregon St...those are the only ones I can think of.
