Exactly. How many BCS schools have a cartoon mascot on their helmets? VERY few....Arizona St, Oregon St...those are the only ones I can think of.

Also, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State and Boston College don't have mascot logos on their helmets nor do they have any sort of lettering representing their university. Alabama has numbers on their helmets.

I really like the new logo. Especially the colors. My alternate would have been the Cyclones helmet. People do know we are the Cyclones, Clones etc. We really need to stick with this one, because everyone is wearing different logos all of the time.

I was under the impression he meant the actual mascot/cartoon type character actually on the helmet

Clemson - paw print
FSU - Arrowhead/Spear
USC - SC logo
Wash. St. - Goofy WSU lookin thing

None of these have a cartoon mascot actually on the helmet.

I was in Mexico in Feb. and someone there looked at my I State hoodie and said Go Iowa State, sure they were trying to sell me something but at least they knew the school

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the "I-State" logo, but for those that don't like it either and are using the whole Illinois State, Indiana State, Idaho State reasoning are throwing a pretty weak argument out there.

Whenever I get this question, it gives me an opportunity to give them a brief history of Iowa State athletics.

Agree 100% and I love telling the story. People usually respond with how cool it is. I was meerly pointing out that as long as I can remember, people don't recognize our logo. I have been asked if I was a Louisville Cardinal fan, a Redbird fan, etc, for a long time. Didn't matter what logo we have had. I have never had anyone ask me if I State stood for Illinois or Idaho.

Simple fact is no one will ever know unless we win on a regular basis. Once we do that, we have a very recognizable and simple logo that is easy to decipher.
