Hurricane Harvey

We were driving from KC to Colorado one time, and it was probably 3am in the middle of nowhere. Three of us are sleeping in the car as we get gas. I hear a clunk clunk clunk noise and I spring to life - "oh ****, Robert is trying to put diesel in the Camry".
He was sleep deprived and he had a pen ready to hold the flap open on start pouring it in. I got there in time to tell him to put the green handle down and pull forward 10 feet.
My nieces and their families could have gone on up the road to my sister's home in College Station, but Spring & the Woodlands weren't supposed to be hit much, and there is a fear of looters if you leave homes that are not flooded. The one in Spring and her husband son & daughter have spent the last two days as muckers, helping to clean out the homes of friends & neighbors that were at a lower elevation that they were. For a time they were in something of an island, but she said that seems to be receding enough for them to get to a store tomorrow or the next day (if the rain doesn't bring the waters back up).

So far 47 confirmed dead for this overhyped storm. I'm sure the number will jump up even more as they start getting into these neighborhoods and searching.
Well come and leave this world the same. I'm with you. I'd rather put money into experiences than things.
I notice at least one of the people claiming "overhyped" tried to delete their post. None have come back to say well ****, I was way, way, way wrong on that.
Eh, I'm sure they'll live and learn. Most of us are Iowans so we're used to unpredictable tornadoes and snow events rather than monster storms bearing down on coastlines
I have noticed that if you look at Houston and surrounding area affected by floods and the hurricane using Google Maps on your desktop/laptop the city and area looks normal. Look at it on your phone using the Google Maps app the satellite photos have updated and include a lot of the flooding and destruction where the hurricane hit.
