Any earlier thread mentioned that not all of us were blessed to be born a Cyclone. How did you become a Clone?

Not really sure. My family was mostly hawk and panther fans since they were originally from Waterloo. I went to Ames once as a kid and fell in love with the campus and the people, guess thats where it started.

Born in Hawk land, but my parents both went to ISU. My brothers gave into the peer pressure as kids and started as Hawk fans. I was able to withstand the dark side and always was a Clone.

Born and raised by several generations of Cyclones!

Both of my parents are alums and I was born at Mary Greeley when Dad was in Vet School. Mom and Dad didn't make it easy on me by moving to NE Iowa, but I made and moved closer to the mother country by coming to Ankeny.

My first basketball game was in 1974. I was also born that year. So I guess I was born into it. I am not sure weather to love my dad for it or hate him for it.

Born in Long Island, NY, where my family (and the rest of the population in general) couldn't give two rips about the NCAA. Moved to Davenport when I was 4. Almost instantly became a Hawkeye fan. Lasted until I received my acceptance letter to ISU. I now bleed cardinal (the real color of blood) and gold...

Wasn't born a Cyclone but went to ISU, then I experienced Hilton Magic in the early-mid 90s and am a clone for life. The 0-10-1 year in football wasn't fun though......

I hope to create a family tradition of Cloneitude. Although, I did tell my wife the kids could go to any school they want as long as its in the B12. However, if they chose KU, they would be disowned.

Parents both attended ISU, as did other relatives. I was the only Clone fan in the midst of a bunch of Hawk fans in grade school in NW Iowa. Took a lot of heat for that, but later when we grew up, some of my friends wised up and switched affiliations.

I just loved watching basketball. The more I watched, the more I saw ISU. The more that happened, the more I loved ISU. Then I went there from 92-96, and it's taken an unshakable root:yes:

Also, my wife grew up in a house where athletics weren't always a real big deal, but she's blossomed into a tremendous Cyclone fan!

Grew up in Utah and moved to Iowa in HS. Was never a fan of either school that much, however I learned early on to despise the Hawkeyes because of the arrogance in the fan-base. Anyway, I became a Cyclone when we lived in Ames for four years while my wife attended Veterinary School...

Right now I say the only schools my kids are banned from are Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. If my job moves to Michigan in 3 years and I move with my job, I'll be adding Michigan St to that list as well.

honestly grew up in eastern iowa and was a huge hawkeye fan, chose to come to ISU 2 years ago and now i am a huge cyclone fan. Before becoming a cyclone fan i never realized how annoying hawkeye fans can get

I have been a Chiefs fan since 1969 (there's my age) and I would rather not have to buy more jersey's that are diffferent colors..

Actually- I won my first bet against a Hawk fan when ISU beat Iowa for the first time since Christ was a Cowboy in football-So a shower shoe I am

Dad is a Hawkeye fan (no connection to the school at all), mom doesn't give a rip about sports, stepdad is a Nebbie fan (he was born and raised there, went to undergrad and grad there, I cut him some slack).

My dad took me to most home EIU football games when I was younger, and some men's and women's basketball games. I never really thought about ISU until around college-search time when I realized the people in my class going to EIU were mainly d-bags that I didn't want to associate with. And ISU has one of the best programs in the nation in what was my planned major (things have changed there), so it went to the top of the list. Never even visited EIU--miffed dad a bit, but he got over it.

My dad even bought Cy's Pack season tickets last year and dons an ISU hat and sweatshirt during the games! During the EIU game last fall I let him wear an EIU hat and ISU sweatshirt, but hey--he does help with tuition! And the 3 of the 4 games he made it to last year, we came out victorious so we encouraged him to buy Cy's Pack again this year.

Sorry for the lengthy novel.

I was oh-so-close betraying my Cloneness and to going to Iowa for college but was offered a scholarship to ISU, which rescued me.

I shudder to think how my life would be different had I gone there.
