Higher NBA Draft Pick Royce or HB?

Barnes first step is too slow, doesnt work on d. Hes a lengthyjump shooter who cant get to the rim.

Harrison Barnes will go before Royce and any GM who would take Royce over Harrison should be fired on the spot.

If we can agree that the CCL is stiffer competition than HS and having seen Royce in the CCL and HB in H.S. and 1 year at NC, who is the higher NBA draft pick next year if both leave?

I have seen both play in person as many of us now have. I give the edge to Royce if he shows that he can defend the 4 and the 5. The offense is obiously there.

HB...will be a better NBA player...he has too much potential. And theres that risk with Royce. I mean all the Iowa State first round draft pics have been busts in the last 20 years

I don't know how tall Royce is but he was definetely taller than Ejim whose reported height is probably pretty accurate.

Barnes stock has to be way down and Royce's is skyrocketing, the difference being that Royce is coming from nowhere on the draft boards.

I think HB will get drafted higher, but RW will have a better career. I just don't see many things in HB's game that I think will make him a successful pro. Average shooter, not real explosive off the dribble, tendency to shy away from big moments, not a great defender. To me, he is very average at a lot of different things.

Royce is an elite passer, a very good rebounder and just such a unique all around talent given his size and skill set.

What the heck does how previous ISU draft picks have done in the NBA have to do with anything? It's totally irrelevant. That's like saying we've never beaten a Top-5 team in football and, therefore, it will never happen.

I actually think Royce has just as much of a high ceiling on his skill set as Barnes. You have to remember this was his first year playing college ball and that he seemed to get better game-by-game. His shot will improve considerably and his skill set for someone with his strength is unique, much more so than the skill sets of Barnes. As the NBA is much more about individual match-ups, he realistically could be a better player than Barnes in the NBA.

Barnes is very talented but nothing he does stands out to me more so than for dozens of other similarly sized/skilled NBA players.

I'm 99% sure that HB will be drafted higher. I see both of these guys giving pretty solid stat lines in the NBA. They will be all around solid players. I don't see either of them becoming a dominant, #1 type player for a team. But they certainly could be a nice piece of the puzzle for teams that have some other talent.

Latest ESPN mock has Royce 18th to Boston. That seems about right. Barnes will go higher.

Has Barnes declared yet whether he's going this year? Even though he's a first rounder, it wouldn't hurt for him to play one more year. I think he could improve his stock.

One other difference is how much they really care about the NBA. It sounds like White is talking about all sorts of other things that interest him, but not so much about the NBA itself. I think he hurts his NBA stock when he doesn't talk more about how great it will be the play in "the league." He sounds sometimes like someone who might be content to play for a few years, earn several million, and then live his life without the hassle of the NBA. Whereas, Barnes has talked from the start about his NBA aspirations.

correction. HB talks about "his brand"

He would still get drafted on potential right now. Another non-descript year in college would actually hurt him.

Harrison Barnes is top 5 and Royce is top 20
As of today.

Once RW talks to the NBA front offices, his stock can rise much higher. That is what some of the draft sites are saying. Let's compare just before the draft. Personally there are lots of HBs in the NBA, but there are not many RWs, who can do so many different things. About the only RWs in the NBA past was Charles Barkley and Anthony Mason. My current three fantasy teams have players like HB right now.

I love Royce. But unless Royce suddenly has developed a medium range jumper and developed into a decent Free Throw shooter he will definitely not make Top 10. Around pick 15 or so IMO and that is all based on potential. Royce really needed to stay and develop his game. But Fred knew that the NBA is all about potential and hype and Royce had a great NCAA Tourney. So his popularity had peaked and it was time to go.

Topic should be who will be a better NBA player. Harrison is projected to go anywhere from 4th to 7th pick
