The U.S. Census defines the "Midwest" as these 12 states --

Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Michigan
Minnesota
Missouri
Nebraska
North Dakota
Ohio
South Dakota
Wisconsin

I suppose some regions (e.g., western Pennsylvania with its economic connections to eastern Ohio or Louisville and parts of Kentucky, right across the river from Indiana and Ohio) might try to jump in but... nah.

I think that makes the "heart" (and the hub) of the Midwest somewhere like Chicago.

To put it in simpler terms, west of the Appalachians, east of the Rockies, north of the Ohio River, south of the Canada border.

That seems like too many states.

Michigan is a weird job. Great history, but pretty irrelevant recently. Winning 10 games won’t keep you you’re job and you have to play Ohio State, Penn State and Norte Dame ever year. If you don’t win the Big 10 within your first 5 years you’re fired. I would rather stay where winning is fun and fans understand building a team has its hiccups.
Some people love Ames. You must be one of them.

None of that matters because some random internet poster likes his current position.

A little birdie told me something this morning when I asked: “Campbell is going to be coaching a really good Midwestern team in 2021, prepare accordingly.”

take it for what it’s worth.

OK, phew, not going to the Lions.

Stop with the money. I do not think it will even be a small motivation. History of program, can we win the National Championship, Recruit nationally for 4 and 5 stars. League school is in. Maybe location. Is coming back to the Midwest a priority for CMC and staff. I have no inside knowledge. Just my opinion.

I was looking at it from the perspective of what it would cost Michigan, and whether they’d be willing to eat two significant buy-outs. You know Campbell better than I do (which isn’t saying much - I’ve never met the man), but I agree with your assessment on what would seem to interest him.
