Harbaugh

I don't know why. That's a job that's right up there with Nebraska, USC and Texas in terms of fans so desperate to get back to their glory days no matter how unrealistic of a reality that is. Coaches come and go and things never change at these places.
The difference is that Michigan has a much better local area for recruiting. One should have no problem finding an abundance of talent in and around the Michigan area.
Nebraska is a hole in the ground in the middle of nowhere.

People talking about coaches "loyalty" to a certain school made me think of this (ie, selling out for cash):

I dont think Michigan is in the same boat as Nebraska. They have access to a lot of talent nearby. A good coach could turn them back into a top 10 program in a few years.
Nebraska poisoned their recruiting well when they left the B12. They’ll never be more than a mid tier program again. They fired coaches too fast and no longer have name recognition with new recruits out of state.

How much do you think the renegotiation of rights fees occurring after next season in the Big Ten will effect the dollars in play?

COVID has given their AD's the perfect excuse to do nothing until the financial landscape is more clear, especially if they believe media payouts will be flat or falling in the next round of negotiation.

Let's equate Michigan to SC.
If SC hired a "failed" NFL coach in Pete Carroll, why shouldn't Michigan take a stab at someone like Dennis Allen, Bill O'Brien, Dan Quinn?

How did this thread get off rail from those dastardly michigan militias and onto geography vernacular?

Let’s see. CMC, an Ohio guy through and through, said he wasn’t interested in the Buckeyes or the Browns, and yet suddenly people are hyperventilating about Michigan?

Just how many times does the guy have to say “I want to build something special here”, anyway?
When did he say he wasn’t interested in Ohio State?

Anybody who thinks a coach doesn’t get fired due to the buyout, remember that generally they always get donors to pony up the buyout. If donors want a coach gone, 5-10 MM is not an issue.

The U.S. Census defines the "Midwest" as these 12 states --

Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Michigan
Minnesota
Missouri
Nebraska
North Dakota
Ohio
South Dakota
Wisconsin

I suppose some regions (e.g., western Pennsylvania with its economic connections to eastern Ohio or Louisville and parts of Kentucky, right across the river from Indiana and Ohio) might try to jump in but... nah.

I think that makes the "heart" (and the hub) of the Midwest somewhere like Chicago.
Chicag is not part of the Midwest , it is the epicenter of hell!

None of that matters because some random internet poster likes his current position.

I am NOT some random poster my friend. In fact, I would say that this site has benefitted from my football background. Also, I never saId, well maybe a few times, that Iowa wasnt in the Midwest. You all just seem so close to that garbage dump called commiefornia. :jimlad:

Not talking about your football knowledge. Talking about your ridiculous parochial intransigence. Talk football and not geography and we should all be fine.
