Halftime exit and re-entry

So, if I go in early and then realize I forgot something I have to wait until after kickoff to go get it?

I think so. There are a lot of people trying to get into the game at that point and I think it might be diffucult to deal with re-entry at that time.

According to the rules, yes. Maybe that's part of the reason why there's such a crowd at the gates just before kickoff.

I love leaving the stadium at halftime and I never miss a play before of after the half. It drives me nuts when people really dont care to get back in the stadium during a close game.

Maybe if the team was halfway decent, I'd feel bad about missing the 2nd half kickoff. Lately, the tailgating has been more enjoyable than the games. I don't feel one bit bad about missing half/most of the third quarter. They have my money, so I'm doing my part to help the program. Start playing better and keep my interest. Last year I don't think I saw the second half of any home game after KU.

So why enter the stadium at all? Why not just buy the tickets and make your donation but stay home or stay in the tailgate lots the entire time. After all, they already have your money.

Because that isnt what he gets the most enjoyment out of? Different people have different ideal gameday experiences.

I pay to see ISU FB. But that's only part of the equation. The other part is the tailgate. Gameday is an event for us and only a portion of it is the actual game. In fact, there are multiple people at our tailgate who never go inside JTS. Sad, but that's the way it is. I guess when you look at it, it's better to have those people in the lots adding to the atmosphere than not.

Bottom line is that when I'm at the game, I am constantly weighing whether what I'm doing is more enjoyable than being back at the tailgate. If the ISU team I'm watching is getting beat down or has given up (like a lot of games last year), then I'm likely to leave. Watching the second half of games last year was like straddling a nut-kicking machine. I'd rather enjoy my free time and hang out at the tailgate.

I vote we don't start selling beer AND we not allow re-entry. THAT is the way is should be.

Now...call me a party pooper/fun hater if you must.

I vote that we outlaw all alcoholic beverages and open flames in the parking lot. People must pack up their Kentucky Fried Chicken, Coca-Cola and rice crispy treats no later than 30 minutes before kickoff. Then they will march single file through the ticket gates and to their seats. All patrons must stay in their seats until the game is completed. Restroom and concession stops must be made between quarters or at halftime. After the game, patrons will exit Jack Trice Stadium in single fine and proceed directly to their vehicles, where they will wait paitiently to leave the parking lots.

Thank you,
Hitler

This. I alway leave at half and only ONCE in the past 3 years did I not make it back b4 2nd half kick. And that's cuz I was stuck in the way back end of the grass lots so it was understandable. It never seemed like that big of a problem or that hard to get back to JTS in time. Keep a watch or ear to the radio and John Walters.

As long as you're back for kickoff I don't care if you leave. The team needs the fan support just as much coming out of the locker room in the 2nd half as they did before the half, if not more!

Last year was the 1st time I ever left at half, i did it most of the games, and I had to basically leave, walk fast out to the car, grab 2 beers and start the walk back in to get back in time. Not a whole lot of fun, maybe ill just stick to sneaking liquor in and relax.
Or is it possible to chain and padlock a cooler to the fence outside JTS and meet out there at half, or will they think its a bomb?

If you make games not fun, people won't bother going at all (let alone buying tickets).

I guess I never saw the big deal in people leaving during halftime. I would venture to say the football team is waaaaaaaay more concerned with the team on the other side of the ball then they are with the people watching them. With that said, I know they appreciate the fans and their passion for the squad, but the thought of the team actually performing at a lower level because when they came back onto the field there were some empty seats is absurd. What would that say about the mental toughness of our team?

I think in time the policy will change, but until then, it is what it is, and like it or not, things aren't going to change til the product on the field improves. I hope that that day is in the near future. Til then let the people have there beers and enjoy the day. When they miss something special, they will change there ways.
