Saddle bag suggestions? I have one, and I like it, but with my spare tube and patch kit, I can barely fit my phone in there, much less a small multi-tool if I need to make adjustments.

I’ve seen some that look way too big. Like I might even hit it with my feet as I’m riding. I just need one slightly bigger I think, but not too big. I’m not too interested in a top tube mount, I don’t think.

Consider a small water resistant barbag. They're great for phones and easier to access than one in the saddle. Plus u can put snacks and other in them. Lots of cool ones on the market.

I have one like this on my gravel bike. It's great. https://leadoutgear.com/products/lead-out-mini-handlebar-bag/

Thanks. Yeah…I think I could live with this. I really don’t want to get too baggy. Want to keep it pretty minimalist, and I love the saddle bag because if that, but this doesn’t look too bad.

There's so many styles/sizes available. I'd suggest hitting up Amazon and ordering 3 - 4 and then just keep the one that works. Since I have multiple bikes my saddle bags only carry a spare tube for that bike and tire levers. Everything else is in my hip bag. I do agree with your approach, I just don't like having a bunch of bags on my bike.

Anyone ever ridden the Three Rivers trail between Rolfe and Eagle Grove? I love a good crushed limestone trail like Heritage or Wabash when it's scenic.

Under the saddle is big enough for my tools and a spare tube. Bar bag is for billfold, extra house key and key for bike lock, and cell phone. Similar setup for my two bikes.

Your saddle bag looks a touch bigger than mine. I like it.

I’ve looked at that bar bag. Have had it in my hand about 5 times, and just can’t pull the trigger.

No comment on the Shimano recall yet? That’s a big one. Dura Ace and Ultegra cranks made from 2012 to 2019.
4500 incidents reports of the casing/coating coming off. And that’s just the ones that have been reported. 800k cranks in the US and Canada alone.

I've broke a Shimano crank before 5 ish years ago. Somehow I didn't wreck as I was out of the saddle climbing...came close though. I was training for Cycle Oregon. Shimano drug their feet but Kyle's Bikes in Ankeny, where I bought the bike, took care of me. Kyle's Bikes is awesome.

Rode the Three Rivers trail early summer after some flooding. A lot of bugs on the ride and some small washout areas. But previous years I never had any issues. Smooth limestone. A couple areas where they added new. Towns are spaced out perfect. You will see a biker or 2, but never any groups, which is perfect every once and a while.

Plus, very scenic.... I have to ride it at least once a year. Highly suggested.

Hmmm, what are the chances my two Ultegra cranks will bookend this recall? Fingers crossed. Thanks for pointing this out.

I have under the saddle for tools and tubes. Phone wallet and keys are in my shirt pockets.

Sounds like it’s a shop inspection. Shimano is notoriously gunshy when it comes to recalls hence the long wait. Will be interesting how this all plays out on a global scale. I guess they will have to pay for third party power meters as well

Going to fall WAY short of my miles goal for the season. Sort of bummed about it but playing catchup isn't likely unless we get crazy good weather this fall.. Got rained out for a week here (shocking after a couple of years of drought) but got a 30 mile in on Monday (20mph winds 35mph gusts). Not even tempted today, even windier with 37mph gusts. The weather gods really do HATE me.

We've been lucky with the rain tapering off finally off and not too windy here in Northern CO but I am having trouble keeping bikes going - sheered a rear hub Tuesday racing short track with the kids. The week before, flatted the gravel bike (tubeless so limped home) and shifting was horrific on climbs = new tire and cassette. In both mechanical issues - it was more of a end of life situation for items, just sucks when you have to keep going to the bike shop, but luckily mine sells beer. :eggplant:

You can get a ton of miles in riding with the wind at your back and take transit home :D

Anyone in here a DSM area mountain biker?

I'll be in town on Saturday AM looking to kill some time and will have my bike with me. I've ridden a little of the Center trails a few years ago, but got chased out by rain. I was thinking about trying those again, but going off of Trailforks, I think the Sycamore trails look decent too. Was curious to which people prefer and why. Doesn't look like it will be cold enough to freeze Friday night.
