Re: Calling some fans out

We wanted different stuff, so we divided for halftime.

I tried 3 different lines, and not one of them moved in the 5-6 minutes I gave them. Highly unsatisfied.

One of my buddies experienced the same type of wait.

Re: Calling some fans out

Concession lines at halftime were ridiculous. Left my line as soon as the team came back on the field. I was less than half way through it.

Re: Calling some fans out

Yeah...basically you are a bad fan. Your tailgate > the team you feel so passionately about. You have 6 hours before the game to tailgate, hang out with people you havent seen, I get it. 6 hours. Youre telling me you cant wrap it up and get into the stadium by kickoff? Then you really need to leave the stadium for another beer or 3 at the half? Come on. Really, to listen to people talk like this is pretty pathetic. Just my opinion.

Re: Calling some fans out

In our case, we had hillside tickets - walked from Kmart since all lots were closed or full in that area at 4 PM, got the game on time, sat in mud and when the game was well in hand at the start of the 4th decided to make the trek back to kmart early as my kids were tired of sitting in mud. Now before you lecture me and say I could donate and park closer and sit in better seats, that may happen in the future, but today - other goals have priority. I also saw plenty of people that were having a good time after the half in the high dollar lot - including what appeared to be Tron Smith, be sure to lecture him too since you are " Calling out" the rest of us.

A lot of people don't live and die with every single play like some do.

I used to. I don't any longer.

I prefer to enjoy the atmosphere with friends. If that means missing some of the game, so be it.

We are a program that has a lot of fringe fans because we're typically not very good. They may not come to Ames specifically for the game, but they come and buy a ticket, nonetheless.

Pollard would be making a huge mistake if he didn't allow re-entry. The same people would probably leave at half, but just wouldn't make it back in to watch the game.

Re: Calling some fans out

Why isnt the staduim filled when the game starts?

Why do some leave with 5 mins left in the 1st half?

Why do some not return until 10 mins left in the 3rd?

Why do some need to leave with 8 mins left in the game?

They way I see it we have 7 games in Ames a year. We wait 9 months for football to start and to be there to watch our team play. Then we get to see our team in person, some fans feel the need to watch only half a game. I guess I just dont understand it.

I will address these questions.

1. Playing bags and Getting drunk in the tailgate lots.
2. Going out to keep the buzz going.
3. Lost track for time while pounding beers at halftime.
4. Getting kicked out by DPS for public intox while doing push ups on top of the crowd.

Re: Calling some fans out

Some people simply haven't matured yet and believe getting drunk is more important.

Re: Calling some fans out

Simple, sell beer at the stadium. Police the gates not allowing intoxicated people into the stadium. Don't allow re-entry. At 8 bucks a beer public intox will go way down and revenues will go way up.

Re: Calling some fans out

Honestly?? Wow I cant believe some of these comments!! If you want to know how important the fanbase is to college athletics look no farther than Texas A&M (12th man), Utah, Florida, and Hilton Magic??? These stadiums/coliseums make it hell for the opposition! Tailgating is AWESOME but we need to get our fans into the stadium and out of the parking lots once the game begins!! It all starts at home and sadly our fan base is more concearned with drinking beers and chilling in the parking lot than supporting our team!!

Have you ever been to the Swamp? I went to my first game last night, there is no re-admittance if you leave the stadium. Guess what, with the score 21-7 they couldn't get out fast enough with 5 minutes left in the 1st half. This happens everywhere, not just ISU. Just looks worse with 45,000 fans instead of 90,000. Also, you can't compare basketball with football, totally different.

I agree with everything you said except the last one. We were up 27-0. If it were close then, yes, sit you *** down.

I don't get it either, especially your first question. When I attended the Northern Illinois game, a 7:00 kickoff, sitting in section B I was able to look across the field at 6:59 and see people still filing into the stadium entrance.

The way I see it, people pay for a ticket to attend a FOOTBALL GAME. Missing any of it is wasting money.

Re: Calling some fans out

If I was a player I would feel a bit dissapointed that some of the people would rather miss parts of the game so they can get 10 more minutes of drinking as oppose to watch every minute of the game and be a part of creating an atmosphere that would give us a huge homefield advantage. When I come to a game my first priority is the actual game, and then everything else.
It's impressive to see a packed stadium throughout a game when watching it on tv or experiencing it first hand.
Someone mentioned long lines at concession stands, and I know that can be a problem at times. If I see long lines I just go back to my seat since I would rather not miss any of the 3rd quarter, than make sure I get a drink or hotdog.
Someone also mentioned coming home late and having to get up early. I would rather suck it up, and get couple hours less of sleeping, and then make it up after work the following day.
But, I guess that's just me and other people have different priorities, which is fine. I am not telling anyone what to do, but just saying how I go about it.

Re: Calling some fans out

The way I see it, if a fan pays for a ticket, they can do whatever they want with it. There are no guidelines on how to enjoy a game. If you feel like watching half, great. This is a nonissue.

Go back to your Hawk board Dolph. You're half as clever as the normal Hawk and an eighth as interesting. I've come to the realization why you hate the Cyclones. They didn't recruit you for track and you wanted to go to ISU. The pathology you display in your hatred is killing you.

You will continue to be a bill back ******** until you come back to the Cyclones.

Concession stands! I went to the bathroom and only needed a pop, i didnt get back to my seat until after the kickoff after the interception return by Reeves...ridiculous.
