Friday OT Thread: Well, I never...

Along with the never gotten a ticket, I've never been pulled over.

And regarding the states you have been in, do fly over or drive throughs (only stopping at Rest Stops) count? What about landing in an airport?

PS coffee is amazing.

Don't know about the others, but we count it as on the ground...literally. Flying over doesn't count. Landing in an airport doesn't count unless you leave the airport. Basically, minimum of one hour not in a vehicle, not in an airport. That's just the "been in". "Know well" involves multiple visits and/or multiple overnights. "Lived in" involves 3+ consecutive months as a primary residence. Our family travels a lot, and we have personal maps of where we've traveled, lived, etc. There was a lot of argument about definitions (particularly due to two military types with TDY's), so we set up definitions. :)

I count it as ones you've stepped foot in. But I count airport layovers. If my bank statement shows I bought a coffee in Colorado, then I don't know how I can say I haven't been in that state.

I also use these definitions for the women in my life.

Many "been in"s

A few "Know wells"

One "Lived in"

I was well into my 40's before I got my first one. (Oh, I deserved plenty, just lucky to be in the right place when there were no cops around.) Then I got another one about 9 months later. No more though. My cocker spaniel got me out of one - was a female cop and she ended up really enamored with my dog - got the warning.

Wouldn't work with my current dog. She literally is fine in every situation until someone (friend or stranger) approaches the car. Instant defensive/attack mode. What's bad is she's 8 pounds of cute fluff so people don't heed her growls. She nipped the realtor in FL before I could warn her or pull the dog back. Don't want her to bite the cop - probably shoot us both.

Women...Suckers for dogs and babies.

I never likes some mods here. I never voted for a democrat and I never **** my pants.

The only time I have been in Montana was an airport layover and the bar wasn't open

o I grew up in the ‘60’s and have never been to a drive-in movie

o I have never owned a car with an automatic transmission.
o I have never slept with a flight attendant.

If you're not picky, come to KC on a weekend and I can point you in a good direction to knock all three of those out...at the same time.

I must re-stress the "not picky" part

I don't eat airport food. I refuse to pay an 800% markup.

I already said our rules aren't for everyone...we had to define them because how much of California did you see/touch/smell/taste/hear in a generic airport?

:)

Ah, see I'd say I've been there, just not enough to be able to judge it or give recommendations.

Thought it might be interesting to hear what thing people have never done that might surprise others. This could be places, food, entertainment, etc. Let's leave out the sex.

I will start with - I am 58 years old and I have never tasted Lobster.

First off, I don't really like fish or seafood but am at least curious as to what Lobster tastes like since so many people rave about it. I just won't consider ordering it for $30 or whatever just to find out I don't like it. And as it turns out I've never been in a situation to try someone else's.

I almost broke the curse a couple weeks ago when we went to a local supper-club and my SO ordered Surf and Turf. The meal came and it was steak and jumbo shrimp so the drought continues.

get lobster bisque sometime. That's how I tried it without dropping $30. I don't like much fish, but I love crab and shrimp. I thought it had a similar taste and consistency to crab but "nicer".

I'm in the same boat as you.

I guess we each use either bathroom in our house, but always shut the door, and never draw attention to it. I think your coworkers are the weirdos.

yeah I think it's ok to keep a bit of privacy in that department. We shut doors and I don't see that changing unless for some medical reason down the road.

Then you're doing it wrong...

Don't know what else to do. Brought my bigass bluetooth speaker. (One that can be heard over metalgrinding in a shop). So I was blaring that. Threw the frisbee around. Lounged around. Swam out in the ocean a bit. I don't know what else you want me to do.

No one wanted to drink though. It is banned on the beaches here and it is a $1000 fine and/or jail.

It is windy as hell, the water feels like I'm swimming in urine, and the saltiness feels weird as ****

I've never done a drug, nor have I even been curious. I never really understood the whole "peer pressure" thing.

same here. I didn't drink until I was 21 - got so much **** for that and never once did others' pressure make me want to drink. It'd just **** me off and make me resist it even more.

- Never done drugs
- Never smoked/lit a cigar/cigarette
- Never been to the Atlantic coast.........though I did get in the water from the Scotland side of things......does that count as Atlantic?
- Never been skiing
- Never been to an ISU Men's basketball game
- Never snuck out of the house
