Explosions at Boston Marathon

CNN is really embarrassing itself with this story. They had to retract their earlier report that an arrest had been made. Is it really too much to ask that they verify their sources before they run with the story?

Until they do a report based upon a press release indicating that the investigating entity requires the release of no further information yet runs a story every day whining about the lack of transparency, they are at least superior to the Rag. That's not saying much though.

Kind of off topic, but what news agencies do people believe to be the most credible? I used to prefer CNN, but obviously not anymore. For business related news, I usually tune in to CNBC and haven't seen much to doubt them.

Are there any credible news sources anymore?

Watching CNN's website today you know they and many other media outlets want one thing, ratings. They report without backing up sources just so they can be the first to report "breaking" news.
I am a teacher and I teach my students, when researching, to back up everything with credible sources. If a bunch of 12 and 13 year olds can do that you would think CNN could also.

But what if those 12 and 13 year olds want to be the FIRST to get their project done?

Jon Stewart, Twitter, Reddit. Reddit is really fast and usually has people involved/there who will chime in.

ETA: in response to what news do you consider "credible".

Or it could be cleared of non-essential staff and reporters before the suspect is brought in.

yeah, exactly. That's what I was saying. the lockdown occurs after nearly everyone but essential peeps are booted out.

Look at what is circled in the image.
Is it incongruous with a report on a terror attack where people died or maimed?

In response to my own question, I think it is becoming apparent that there no longer is one true "credible" news source. I think the best practice is to process as much information about an event as possible from various news/other sources and cross reference the details.

did not realize pointing out a moment of childish levity would result in so much panty-twisting.

Hey, guys. Guess what. A lot of people were harmed. Let's just get back on topic. Thanks.

"Enough" means "enough." Last warning, guys, no more peeing matches.
