Explosions at Boston Marathon

I noticed that the guy in the wheelchair who lost his leg - you all know the pic - was being escorted by a guy in a cowboy hat who appeared to have applied a pretty darn effective tourniquet - he even had his hand on it. Despite the gore, it didn't appear that the wound was bleeding anywhere near as much as it should have been. I couldn't help having instant respect for those in that photo.
To me it looked like his hand was pinching an artery that was hanging out of his leg.

Read the article, it says exactly what Janny said.

yeah, but there are also quotes floating out there from other anti-terror officials who say that pressure cooker bombs are also used by foreign terrorist groups. The point is, we still don't know much.

Just showing where you yourself said from someone in the know..... you questioned why I said stop to mesa..... cause(and I'm going out on a limb here) he is not in the know...

I think it's a little political at this point to be pointing fingers in any specific direction, and at this point we really don't need to be saying it was this group or that group.

i just thought the level of conjecture was a little toolish....and it was vectoring the discussion in a direction that was going to get political very fast. We have the cave for that.

Really, the only thing "toolish" that's occurred thus far was your comment towards me. I simply passed along what was being reported on Fox and other outlets. I claim no expertise in bomb making business but I do have access to regular security briefings at certain levels and, far more importantly, I regularly work with and have friendships with a number of TSSE's at the airport who've previously encountered similar devices in Afghanistan. I was quite clear in pointing out that none of this is anything close to conclusive...and yet somehow you saw this is "over the top" and somehow political. On the contrary, I shared what little information I knew to be true and gave an opinion. Perhaps the only real problem here is your own assumptions.

For the record I've made nothing like a claim of knowing who is behind this attack, simply pointing out that SOME of its aspects reflect commonalities with AQ methods and equpment...I even gave my own "guess" as to who I think may be behind the attack. But I'm completely open to a thousand possibilities as we all should be, and the evidence will lead where it will, and we may yet end up at a singular nutjob. Almost literally, anything is possible at this point. Again, I think the most likely explanation is someone "inspired" by Al Qaeda but with minimal direct connection to the organization...a very disconnected cell. But given the current dearth of facts, that's little more than a guess and I admit it as such.

So, cdnlgld, instead of sowing animosity amongst those of us discussing this issue, try some amity and consideration instead. If others want to speculate based on their own past experience and background, and the bit of evidence that's come to light, than that's their business and you should feel free to ignore it...or partake if it interests you.

Probably al Qaeda

I think this is the problem that some don't understand the difference between these two words.

Yes let's all guess who we think did it, I personally think white supremacists because Africans typically do so well in marathons.

Perfect example of not understand the difference between a "claim" and a guess. Based on the bits of information now available, small but important bits, the scales of likelihood tip slightly towards an AQ type of operation. Further, its not unreasonable to analyze what is known, while fully understanding the picture changes as we get more information. Anybody who doesn't start with Al Qaeda as a leading candidate in any such bombing is fooling themselves as its hardly a leap of intuition to do so. Add in multiple detonations and the bomb types and you have SOME reason to lean more towards this possibility....but only a bit at this point.

This, of course, doesn't preclude domestic terrorism being the ultimate answer, nor does it prejudice further investigation. In fact, there remains a very good chance this is domestic terror. But a greater likelihood, in my very humble view, that it is not.

Ok the bomb was in a pressure cooker, let's work off of that, do we know the whereabouts of Bobby Flay at the time of the attack?

Maybe "pressure" is the important word, maybe trying to make a statement. It might have been David Bowie.
