Ernst

Xavier is comparable as a program to us, not "better" necessarily.

No idea what kind of career that he is going to have there, though.

Actually Kasongo wouldn't be here. He was last man in. Not sure what advantage there was cutting Ernst and taking him
True. On that note, a Young, Lard, and Ernst frontcourt would have been a very nice (and big) foundation going forward. Imo they complemented each other well. Oh well.

I love Iowa State but Xavier is a better program.

Xavier tournaments since 2007 = 9
ISU tournaments since 2007 = 5
Xavier sweet 16 since 2007 = 5
ISU sweet 16 since 2007 = 2
Xavier is a very good program. Nothing wrong in chasing them.

I watched their game against SJU yesterday. Damn it would have been nice to land Sean O'Mara and JP (the shooting guard from Minn). The Ernst mistake aside, I'm hopeful Prohm can get us to Xavier's level of recruiting in which we have enough consistently in recruiting to have most positions filled with talent. Fred didn't do Prohm any favors from 2014 to June of 2015.

Really surprised that those who dislike Prohm are sounding off on this. Or not.

You can still like Prohm, cuz I do, & want him to succeed here, but still wish Ernst would have stayed. Chicago after Sweet 16, talking to people at team hotel, they thought Ernst had a chance to 'develop' here, not so much for Carter. But that's already been hashed/rehashed. Perhaps no guarantee 'at the time' w/Lard & Malou coming to play, of his playing time. Couldn't it have been mutual between Brady & CSP? And Brady is the one who wanted to go to Juco to get to play immediately?

That is very Hawkeye-esque of you to pick and chose stats like that...

This thread.

A couple of thoughts on Ernst picking up the Xavier offer...

He does have 3 years to play which would make him more attractive to teams looking for help in the post.

The higher potential options were probably locked up in the November signing period. Many of the spring signees are lower ceiling guys brought in to fill a gap after losing out on better prospects.

Good luck to Mr Ernst, but my hope is that Prohm can use that slot to bring in someone who can contribute more over the next 3 years.

So like ISU?

That's a great hope, but the reality is with guys like Ray and Carter it's not an either/or.
