I think the most important part of this whole thing is what will Melvin be like when he comes back. Will he continually hampered by the knee throughout the season or will he be able to work himself back into shape in a week or so?

Better now then midway or at the end of the season. Hopefully he'll heal quickly and get back soon.

Football program sucks so bad the karma is starting to spill into other sports.

Please someone volunteer to watch over the Volleyball team.

I was just trying to be positive about the season. Just had this story in my head, as I was reading some stuff from last season.

Travis Hines
DAYTON, Ohio — Iowa State did not have a single player miss time due to injury or illness during the 2012-13 regular season.
That streak didn’t extend to the postseason when senior guard Chris Babb landed on an Ohio State’s player’s foot late in the first half of ISU’s 78-75 heartbreaking loss Sunday in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.
“What a time to have it, huh?” said Babb, his eyes red with the remnants of tears.
The Cyclones struggled initially without their best defensive player, but fought back to take a late lead before ultimately falling to the Buckeyes.

BOOOOOOOOOO

Besides Michigain, we play AT BYU, UNI (on a neutral floor), Auburn and maybe Iowa in that timeframe. It's a huge, huge blow to an already inexperienced team.

My sentiments exactly. This injury will be accounted for in the loss department since we don't have the bench strength and the experience with 3 new starters.

This will allow a little more development for other players and may lead to a stronger team later in the season. We just have to keep the losses to a minimum in the meantime. The committee will know the situation. We struggle in the pre-season every year so this year will be much of the same.

My hope, as mentioned above, is that Melvin comes back and can be 100% fairly quickly.

Another positive I didn't think about: development.

Look how young we will be.

Maybe he should just redshirt and play with Vaughn, Niang, Morris, and Thomas next year. :ptongue:
