EgyptAir flight missing

I'm surprised American news is reporting it. There were no Americans aboard.

AP saying the plane made strange, sharp turns immediately before. 90 deg turn at 37k ft, 360 degree turn while descending to 10,000, then lost. Strange deal.

I just heard that as well. That came out of Air Traffic Control in Greece. They are speculating that this could indicate a struggle in the cockpit.

Maybe a problem with the flaps on one side?

typically flaps are *not used* during flight, and used for landing/take offs (approaching).

My guesses are: mechanical, maneuvering from a threat, or cockpit strangeness.

Seems like that could be a bomb as well. Bomb screws up your control surfaces and you go into a spinning descent.

I have trouble getting on board with this being mechanical due to the fact that there was no radio contact. If they were having mechanical issues at 37k feet, they would have radioed that in. It would take some time to crash from that altitude even with a pretty serious malfunction, plenty of time to communicate to the ground.

They pretty much proved it was a struggle. They said the plane took a few sharp turns and dropped 10,000 feet. Another pilot who was flying in the same area said that conditions were great and nothing was affecting communications.

another update: a Greek ship spotted some debris off the coast of Crete and the US Navy dispatched some search planes and ships.

One reason I'm wondering if it isn't a terrorist attack is no one has claimed responsibility yet and it's 5:29 p.m. over there. If it was a terrorist attack, you'd think they'd have claimed responsibility by now

The odd thing about a struggle is that I had seen reports that they had 3 air marshals on that flight, and only like 60 total passengers. If true, this certainly wouldn't be a good look for anyone that wants to tout the value of an air marshal program.

The flight number is 804 and not for sure its a coincidence but it has been 804 days since Malaysian plane MH370 went missing that I saw on another website. Very weird and there maybe a connection.

That seems like a real stretch to me. Probably just a coincidence. Also, it was 802 or 803 days (depending on if you counted yesterday) since MH370 and this accident
