Egor Koulechov will not visit :(

Big guys take more seasoning than guards do.

If Wigginton doesn't come in and start he was massively overrated. The expectation should be for him to start.

What if he starts 1 game? ;) Imo unless we sign two grad transfers he'll start from Day 1 for the recruiting benefits alone, but he may not be top-5 in minutes right away. Then again, I anticipate a more even distribution of minutes for the top-8 rotation guys than what we've had.

Your definition of teams contending for a NC every year is likely another one of your moving bars.
Lol. Take a shot.

Like it or not 5 star players don't spend the whole year as the sixth or seventh man very often. Especially 5 star guards. And when they do 99 times out of 100 they have a loaded roster in front of them.

Do you not remember your bet?

Name me one 5 star player that went anywhere other than Duke, UK, KU, or any other blue blood and didn't start. Bet you can't.

It's already been done. But there are undoubtedly more. Just take one class for example, 2013:
Jermaine Lawrence didn't start at Cincy.
Zak Irvine didn't start at Michigan.
Robert Hubbs didn't start at Tennessee
Keith Frazier didn't start at SMU
Chris Walker didn't start at Florida.

And that's only one class. If we were to move the bar as much as you have been there would be several more that only started a small amount of games, which is very much in the spirit of the actual point of this debate.

I'm not sure why you wanted to create and take such a bad position out of a stance that almost everyone is in agreement on, but it's the offseason. While you needlessly chose that path, the real position is that previous classes show Wigginton starting (a majority) is a good bet. Like you said, it's possible Wigginton doesn't start, as it wouldn't be the first time. Particularly early in the year. Wigginton isn't yet a unanimous five star- he's not Sexton. But he's probably just as good of pg as we have on the roster, and let's be real, a tie goes to the Rivals 5-star.

Sure, last three. '16, '15, '14. You pick. 0 games started and for a team that isn't contending for national titles every year.
I know this doesn't fit your exact parameter of 0 games started, but i think we can both agree if Wigginton only starts a handful of games, then you were wrong.

2014:
Sabonis started 1 game
Lannier started 2 in regular season
Dwayne Morgan started 4

2015:
DJ Hogg started 3 games

@EvanDaniels Rice transfer Egor Koulechov starts his visit to Florida today. One of best grad transfer options in country. 18.2 PPG & 8.9 RPG last year.

I'll give you Morgan. A quick skim of rivals and I'm not seeing any of the other names.

The point is... To not think a 5 star player is going to start going somewhere without 2 and 3 other 5 stars on the roster is silly. They do 99 percent of the time. Especially guards.

And hell, how many 5 star players were at UNLV with Morgan? This is irrelevant to my argument as they definitely aren't a blue blood but without looking, I bet they had $ome other$.

Florida looks a little crowed at the wing position. Chase Johnson is a 4 star coming in, they have a 3 star in DeAudre Ballard, and a sit out transfer from Virginia Tech. Again, these are all guys that would more than likely play the same position as Egor. Hopefully that bodes well for us, but a lot of times in recruiting those things don't make sense. We lost Stokes to Florida in a situation where it looked like we offered playing time.

Sooner, yes. At the beginning of the season, no. Solomon was completely lost on D to start the year, as you would expect a freshman to be.

I get the strong feeling you have no idea what you're talking about.
Lol I guess you are right...I don't know anything. Holdens 2 fouls in the first 2 minutes were far better than anything young could have done...my bad

It's a balancing act with freshmen. You want to get them experience, but you do not want to hurt their confidence, and you definitely don't want to upset team chemistry by overplaying someone whose play is detrimental to the score at times. Coach Prohm was very careful in his approach throughout the year, and tried many different things. It's really hard to argue with the results.

In terms of a real big man I totally agree. There were certain teams where we were fine or even had an edge playing mostly Bowie as our tallest player, other times we went with that lineup when playing Solomon heavy minutes would clearly have been better. By end of the year CSP knew exactly which lineup to play in which situation, but it took a bit.
I'll agree with that. I should clarify that young was the best option for a true 5. I agree against some teams playing small was even a better option. The fact is CSP have Bolden the benefit of the doubt because he was a 5th year guy that he would come around

Right that is what I was saying. CSP was careful with him last year. I would be surprised if he waits a week or 2 before he starts him....I will repeat that I think he starts day 1 but wouldn't be shocked

Good point. Every freshman is personality is different and will respond to starting/more or less minutes differently. thus you have adjust to the results on the floor instead of setting a plan before the season and not being flexible,
Monte and Matt are perfect examples of freshman with planned roles entering their freshman season and then changing by the time the regular season starts.

Paraphrasing here, but when Prohm was talking about Solomon after the season, he said that guards have a much easier time adjusting defensively because they don't have to make as many reads, etc. I think he views guards playing as freshman much differently than bigs.

Wigg's been playing big time games against big time players for several years.

I'm sure they'll bring him along slowly LOL.
