I think Juiston will be better than Talley but to say it is an absolute two games into the season is pretty stupid IMO
You claim incoming recruits will be "better than so-and-so" all the time, before they have even played a game.
Same with Juiston.

Given all the stuff going on with Adidas and players being steered to agents and financial planners I don't know if we even had a chance to get him in hindsight. This isn't the first guy we've lost to UNLV. I have no proof, just a gut feeling.
Pretty sure he had scheduled a visit here, but shortly after or on his visit to Florida he committed to them.
Yes, Egor visited Oklahoma and Florida and set a visit to ISU. He lived in Florida before he went to Rice and they were always thought to be the prohibitive favorite. I believe they had a player that would have his completion for time declare for the draft the weekend he visited. It wasn't a huge surprise he didn't make it to Ames.
Juiston was a big miss for the staff ISU was the favorite for a long time and put a lot of effort to get him to Ames. He would have started and raised the level of this team.
I don't think he should be compared to Talley though. The staff filled his spot with Beverly and/or Brase one of those two wouldn't be in Ames if Juiston . Pretty sure there were Talley whispers of him committing no matter what as long he got his academics in line and graduated.
Prohm just isn't good at spring recruiting.

Correct. Juiston a huge miss, and not really comparable to Talley at all. And that's not a knock on Talley; they just have different games, and overall, Juiston is just a much, MUCH better basketball player. He was the best JUCO in the country for a reason. He would have been a very key player for this squad. Regardless of how it went down last spring, not getting him is a big miss by the staff. We'll feel the pain of it this year and next.
If any of the misses are because the recruit or his handlers wanted something extra on the side or promises of role/playing time I am glad that Prohm didn't play those games and I would hope that most Cyclones would agree with me.
Based on how the UNLV affairs went down when Fred was here I'm never going to count a recruit lost to UNLV as simply a miss. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark - or in this case Nevada.

A top grad transfer for this year was a hard sell with so many unknowns on this team. About a third of people thought Babb wouldn't start by conf play. Top grad transfers want to win their last year.
Still don't think we go hard in the transfer market anyway if we can fill up on top 150 kids. I'd take Tyler Harris over 95+% of what will be available in the GT market.
What about the year before?
We had more to sell to post-grads than almost any other program this spring. Recruiting is selling, and the speed dating nature of spring transfer recruiting doesn’t fit well with how Prohm recruits. Which is too bad, as successful transfer recruiting is a key to maintaining and maximizing success.
Getting a top grad transfer is tough, getting a top big transfer is near impossible. There just aren't more than 3-5 that are great each year. The tier below that is guys like Brase and maybe Jacobson. Plenty of top guards, we didn't need guards. Plus we were known for our run and gun style, I don't think that appeals to bigs. How many good big transfers did Fred get? Was Booker the best big transfer he got? That should tell you everything.
Prohm hasn't shown to be much of a transfer recruiter here but I like that he is attempting and keeping that option open.

The top ones are very tough. But we can do better than we did this past spring.
