Douglas in trouble again

Ya, the Iowa fanbase is a strange mix of people.

45% white trash and drunks that hang out in "towny" bars.
40% normal reasonable people
15% Chicago-ans

You are painting a favorable portrait of hawk fans IMO. Of all the hawk fans I know, I think 3-4 of them are in the "normal reasonable side" and that is nowhere near 10% let alone 40%. You are too kind. Here's my mix analysis:

10% normal reasonable people
20% white trash who are the result of mom and dad being 1st cousins
25% white trash where there is undeniable truth that there is at least one buffalo in the family tree..
20% hillbilly types who have more tattoos then teeth.
25% Chicago-ans.

:twitcy:

If you've been to eastern Iowa and Chicago, you'd know. Most of the people in eastern Iowa are either from Chicago, or do a lot of things related to Chicago - and in turn they act like Chicago-ans.

And if you know any Chicago-ans, they aren't exactly the friendliest bunch.

I see. Yes, I know it. I live it daily, however this year has tamed down any flaming against the Cyclones except for the early "it's our superbowl" comments. They just can't figure it out how we can beat the Hawks and nobody else. I remind them they go back to the Big Ten and we go back the Big 12.....but that is another topic.

BTW, there IS a difference between Cyclone fans and Hawkeye fans. Cyclone fans are humble fans which makes a huge difference in how they present themselves to others.

of those 25% Chicago-ans

5% are from chicago
10% are from rual Illinois not chicago, but claim to be live in a Northwest suburb
10% Just across the river...say Moline or Galesburg

I don't disagree with that. Also, I'm just mostly just trying to get a rise out of people, mostly
I know - I just thought it was funny :)

I'm not playing any games. I was being 100% serious.
So was i.

Any differences in "fan personality" is based on a team's success, and expectations. ISU basketball fans are very similar to how ISU fans view Hawkeye football fans.

Clone fans don't take failure as an option, and annually expect to compete for a Big 12 Title, and at least an NCAA run. When it doesn't happen, well, you know.

So no, there isn't a big difference in fan bases - the biggest differences are in the sports we talk about.

Don't compare us to your brethren. I can be an ***hole with the best of them, but I don't hold a candle to the "I'm better then anyone else" attitude of EIU fans. It's not even close

Just my opinion but it has happened before. DD will get the boot only to be picked up by ISU or UNI and they will say "we believe in second chances".....and he'll play football again.

DD probably knew that and would have transferred to a school with a lesser expectations. NCAA should ban ALL athletes after they have been charged with a felony.

This may be one of the worst posts I've read in a long time. I'm sorry, I've tried staying out of this thread, because, quite frankly, I have nothing to defend the program with. there are a lot of things going down that are not good, and it isn't defensable.

That being said, most posters on this board, and most people that can rub two brain cells together would realize that an "EIU" fan isn't a separate species, or a different kind of person. The fact that you think Iowa fans and ISU fans are completely different really speaks volumes for you knowledge of the state of Iowa, and the two fan bases.

We're all Iowans. Sure, the people in the farther eastern half have a "Chicago complex", but that's a small minority. The vast majority of Iowa fans are spread out around the state, and are nothing like the easterners.

That's all I have to say here, but I felt that this post just couldn't be left without a reply.

Like most people in the EIU fan base, you need to think before you respond. I wish you did have "two brain cells to rub together".

It's not a question of "species" or place of origin, it's a matter of relative respect for others. Yours is a fan base that lacks a great deal of respect for others. This is why you and other EIU fans are treated with such disregard.

I no longer attempt to be civil with your ilk simply because it is never reciprocated. I've tried. It is not encouraged and does not exist in the heart of EIU fandom.

Grow up. Learn to read. Think before you respond.

they mostly only come around once every 5 years or so, mostly

They mostly come out at night. Mostly.

Always looking at the bright side.

Maybe porno DVDs? That would make it even funnier that he did something so stupid.

Actually the three cheap DVDs were:

Message in a Bottle
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Old Yeller

Doidn't anybody on the coaching staff alert him the WalMart has cameras in the building? Get that boy a brain.

Okay SouthernHawk. The reason we perceive your attitude as being holier than though is the simple fact you are over here chastising us for talking/laughing about the Hawks misfortunes.

If I do recall correctly, when Berryman was going through his problems, I am pretty sure there was at least one post on your message boards talking/laughing about it (I need your help though since I am not obsessed by what you Hawk fans talk about on your boards. For some reason you are to the point where you feel a need to post on how we are wrong for even talking about it.)

If you can tell me 100% that your message boards would not have a thread about this if the universities were reversed, I will agree with you :notworthy:

I just laugh everytime I hear something dumb like this happen. Was it really worth $30. What a disgrace to the Hawkeyes. But it still humors me.

It would appear, after readin another one of your posts, that you aren't actually able to argue, but rather resort to "Hey, it's true because I say it's true" tactics. I do believe you missed my point entirely, so I'll wait for a response that actually argues with what I said, rather than reiterate your first post.

I've said this many times, and I'll admit that since they are the two popular boards right now, I'll be glad to repeat this as many times as I need to.

I don't care about those two boards. They are full of garbage, and most posters over there have absolutely no idea of what they're talking about.

I can promise you that on my board that I run, we've had discussions about ISU problems, but it's hardly "Haha, look at them fail" type of thing.

And I think I'm going to put this in my signature, so I don't have to re-post it. I post here because most of the posters are respectful and I enjoy good arguments and conversations about the two teams. Yes, I post mostly in Iowa related topics, but that's because I'm more interested in a little debate between two rivals.

That being said, all of this laughing at the misfortunes of another team based on criminal players is ridiculous. It's obsessive.

Anyways, I'll be done posting in this thread, I'm getting it waaaaay too off topic, and I apologize for that.

To play devil's advocate. What would you say to stealing cold medicine?

Beat me to it. And it wasn't like our boy had never been in trouble before his medicine incident. It basically shows that stupidity knows no school.

I remember a couple years that Clones had a bunch of problem students. All of a sudden, the misfires pile up in Iowa City. The Big Red had a year when the kLincoln police was arresting football players every week. Why do schools have these cycles? I there recruiting class more stupid and/or thuglike at times? I would think ten incidents is a major outbreak. Or does the media just pick on a program?

Mark Mangino is being shown on Hannity and Holmes tonight...barely fit on the screen...

the cr gazette has a story up on their website about dd's arrest. it seems the cops had to get a key to get in to his apt because they didn't answer the door. then when they got in, they found the door barricaded from the inside. it also says that bowman was the one who posted bond for him.
