Yeah, when I started to look at his Hudl just now, I thought, “Did I make a mistake, and he’s an OL?”

But the graphic says DL, so…

It looks like he plays LT and DE for his HS team. Both look pretty good for him as I watch just a little bit of film. Really moves well.

I think DE is where he most impressed coaches at a recent camp.

I see two things there that encourage me:

• Wrestler so he understands how to use his hands and leverage.
• Shot and discus (State qualifier) so he probably has excellent footwork.

I've been following college football recruiting for over 15 years, including 247Sports since its inception.

When a player commits to Iowa State and is unrated, 247 usually slaps an arbitrary 84 or 85 on them. I get it—it's bad for business to have unrated commits at Power 4 programs.

But when Brysen went from being unrated to an initial rating of 88 as an Iowa State recruit... they knew they had overlooked a GEM.
