I am wondering what people think ISU's record would be if we had ANY of the QB's that start for the teams we lost to.

My opinion is this....

Stanzi(15th in BCS)... Same
Coffman(5-1)...Same
Wynn(10th in BCS)...MAYBE we beat KSU
Jones(1st in BCS)...MAYBE we beat KSU

I don't know, but Arnaud has simply not played well this year. My guess is that we would have a better record with any of those guys you mentioned, even if it is just a matter of beating KSU.

I pretty much agree with the OP's results. Until we can stop somebody defensively, QB is the least of our issues.

Now if you give me Iowa/Utah/Oklahoma's defensive lines, we're at least 1 game better, and I doubt we get absolutely obliterated in any game.

Yes, pressure on the QB is the fault of the QB. We know Arnaud can't throw well on the run or when he's under pressure, so the line needs to give the guy more time to set and throw.

I'm not saying it's all the line, but it's not just Arnaud.

A good offense that can sustain drives and keep the defense off of the field would help a
ton....especially since our defense is undersized and thin at most positions.

If we had Aaron Agnew at running back, I suppose it would be the Oline's fault it takes him 5 seconds to hit the hole?

All of those QB's would maybe have won us the K-State game, although I doubt it. All of ISU loses had much more to do with just the QB position...

the thing with having wynn, jones or stanzi is that they are a threat to throw. AA right now doesnt give opposing teams any reason to fear the pass because he is just plain BAD in our system. we rely so heavily on the zone read because we have zero confidence in having AA make plays throwing, and AA has pretty much lost all confidence in himself it seems like when I watch the games. Its time for a change. We're gonna ride AA out the rest of this year im sure, but i cant wait for a new face back there.

I really want to say we need a new QB, but is it really that easy? Seems to me the blocking has not been terrible, but not incredible either. At times AA has thrown very well. Watching other teams that run the same offense, it just seems like they are more effective with it. That is probably due to the amount of time running the Offense and personnel. If one QB could have helped it would have been Massoli.

I just think we need to support the team and be patient until year four. At that time things should be running much better. Barring any Coaches leaving.

Looks like mental pressure on himself also causes him to make more errant throws. By the time third period came around, he was throwing it all around the ballfield. He does not appear to handle pressure as well as a cooler, calmer individual. Actually Tiller looks like a more cool dude under pressure.

Wakeup call - As long as offense goes three and out 50% of time, our defense will not hold up., This goes both ways. Weak defense/weak offense = blowouts. Frankly, we can not run vanilla offense plays to start a game because we are not good enough on the oline. On defense, we might as well gamble in pass coverage.

I would say that AA is a much bigger throwing threat with a Shakey, Broyles or as much as I hate to say it DJK. To go along with our biggest receiving threat Collin Franklin(That says a little about our receiving corps). If we had Shakey or Broyles our whole offense would be better (run game and pass game even special teams). We could have made some noise in the Iowa and KSU game, probably not enough of a difference in the OU or Utah game. I guess the point I am trying to make is I think people are barking up the wrong tree on the QB issue.

If we had Seneca we would have beat Kansas State but still got whipped by the other 3 teams.

The quarterback whiners have got to be the most annoying an uneducated group of fans we have. The QB position has yet to lose us a football game this year. Horrid play on both offensive/defensive lines has been the biggest part of our struggles.

Period.

At any rate - Mahoney missed 2 kicks Saturday - should we bench him? I think ARob dropped a pass - maybe he should sit. Sims missed a tackle or two...get him outta there!

At least when Sims missed the tackle, he chased him into the endzone.

Stanzi is much more accurate on his passes than AA. It is not close. And he makes better choices. You need look no further then their win-loss records to tell the story.
