Dendy "suspended"

hjchristo-the kid goes home for a funeral and the airlines are not flying because of the blizzards and 49 states had snow last week.has mcdermott got a damn brain in his head when he is short handed. he lost a very good basketball player to memphis;weasily johnson goes to syracuse ,and ole lucca went back to germany. harrison barnes was there right under his nose and he takes off to play for horseface roy williams.wtf r we going to do next year in basketball. the guy was successful at SCIHIGH .WHY CAN'T MCDERMOTT BE A PLAYER'S COACH AND GET IOWA STATE
BASKETBALL BACK ON TRACK.sorry for my shouting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are way off base here. It is the fact it took him way long to let anyone know what was going on when the funeral got moved back. I am pretty sure there have been other things going on too.

Randy Peterson is apparently an idiot:
"Iowa State has already lost Lucca Staiger to the German Professional Basketball League."

Let's see what else I can dig up

He was using sarcasm.

There's one idiot in the thread already so I was going on the side of that guy could be dead serious. :biglaugh:

This is no time to be serious.

I have no inside knowledge but I can conclude there is more to this than him missing a week for a funeral. If it was that big of a deal he probably wouldn't have played the KSU game.

Mac's comment that he "doesn't trust" Dendy is pretty strong, as if he's been mislead or lied to.
I bet there's more to this that we don't know...

I will guarantee there is. There has to be. I also think we are seeing a change in how Mac is going to treat his players. I think there will be a lot more accountability for the guys now. Whether or not it will help is anyones guess but I think Mac is getting fed up and realizes this nice guy **** is for the birds.

That has been hinted at a few times in this thread already, there is some stuff that should be allowed to be kept inside the team. Those things coupled with a lack of communication on a players part leads us to where we are today. There should be no reason that fans want every piece of dirty laundry aired out in the open.

Question - why is this situation different than the Colvin situation? It wasn't fair to the team with so few bodies to reinstate Colvin early. Why is it now fair to the team to suspend Dendy with so few bodies available?

Great question...over a 100 posts in this thread and no answer to the question you and Dryburn pose here. Very interesting.

If I would've known how brutal reading this thread would be before embarking on my journey I would of opted for a self-appendectomy instead. Sure, I don't have an appendix, but that would've been much more painless.

You can officially add Dendy to the list of 'players who are no longer here' when the roster comes out for next season.

If you think this year is bad just wait until we start next season without Brackins, Colvin, Dendy, and Gilstrap...

And the cause of all of these problems (add Wes and Lucca to the list above) will still be here because we can't afford his buyout.. Lets face it fanatics: things are going to get MUCH worse before they get better.

Is it football season yet?!?!

He'll be back, he's not going to sit a year to play a year somewhere else.
We're his best option unless he plays baseball I guess.

Because Colvin didn't leave the state for a week and show calculated blatent disregard for the team. Colvin walked out in the heat of the moment and he too was suspended.

Really they are not similar anyway. What would make them similar is if Colvin would have walked out and not been suspended at all.

I agree wtih Marty Terrell on one thing, players beleive playing for Mac is not fun, I think he has taken the fun out of playing basketball for these guys.

probably has something to do with 'losing' not being fun?? Not that I am defending McD, he has done a MISERABLE job to date.

Right, they are not the same situation in so many ways. In fact, very few infractions are the same. There are unique circumstances in almost every situation. Treating individuals and the team fairly in no way means treating them the same. People who don't understand this are not well suited to be a manager, supervisor, or coach. Either that or they know better, but are simply trying to stir up trouble.

One of the best personnel gurus that I have worked with taught me to apply the stomach acid test - just how much grief is one willing to put up with before they draw the line. Some get a little more slack because the potential to straighten out is clearly present. Some are trouble with a capital T and need to be handled with a firmer hand. The ultimate goal to remember when dealing with inappropriate behavior is to be able to change such behavior. Sometimes an extension of confidence is the best option - other times a swift kick in the rear yields the best results.
