Dendy "suspended"

Or maybe Dendy will leard the concept of "TEAM" be a better person and player and work hard for GMAC. Maybe Gillstrap will be back. Colvin says he will be back. Why is your glass always half empty no one knows the plans of these kids after the season. Mac did the right thing getting Dendy's attetnion we need him hang i there clones gotta get better.

Family >>> Team

We need a glass first, before we can talk about it being half empty or half full.

Question - why is this situation different than the Colvin situation? It wasn't fair to the team with so few bodies to reinstate Colvin early. Why is it now fair to the team to suspend Dendy with so few bodies available?

I wonder this too. If GMac HAD to re-instate Colvin, then how can he possibly afford to suspend Dendy now? Remember all the talk about having enough bodies on the bench? Guess that was just all bs then huh? Where is the fairness here? Colvin walked out on his team and coach. Dendy went home to a family funeral. Granted, he probably should have been back sooner, but does no one else have a problem with how this is being handled? Doesn't this give the appearance of different rules for different players?

I think Jamie has told Mac that he's the coach for the future, come hell or high water - or else he wouldn't be getting tough like this.
Kinda refreshing, but way too late in my book.

I think JP told Mac that when the contract was renewed. Infinitely.

Dendy, Gilstrap, Colvin, and Brackins will not be back next year. I am confident in making that prediction. I would also not rule out Hamilton transferring to BYU. They are having a great season again and he was improved enough to the point that they would want him now whereas out of high school I don't think they recruited him. We could be starting out next year with Garrett, Christopherson, Boozer, Vanderbeeken, Paulo, Oliver, Dorr, Buckley, Ejim, Phillips.

Or not. We really don't know that. Little bit alarmist here.

Well, at the surface it looks fishy why Dendy has an indefinite "suspension" where Colvin was able to come back fairly quickly, in large part to our lack of depth....

But, it sounds like Colvin has cleaned up his act and reacted well to his suspension. Maybe Dendy has not responded emotionally the way Colvin did. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes here. Maybe the team has given unofficial approval to McD and the rest of the coaching staff to sit Dendy down until he cleans up his act.

I'm obviously missing something but the kid had a death in the family...I don't get it.
I think McDermott was probably suspicious of the fact that Dendy was gone for a whole week for a funeral and did some checking. Dendy probably wasn't entirely truthful about when he could return and that is where the problem lies. Dendy probably could have been back for the KU game but for some reason chose not to.

I don't have any info on this, but I would guess that this wouldn't be an issue like this if this were the first time he'd disappeared during the season.

From what I understand of this versus the Colvin situation, the circumstances were very different. Not really an accurate comparison.

I'll rule out Hamilton transferring to BYU, he loves the fans at ISU to much to leave.

As for Dendy, Gilstrap, Colvin, and Brackins. I say at this point who cares? There is obviously something going on that is preventing this team succeeding. The talent provided by the previously named players is not winning games now so how is losing them going to hurt our chances in winning games next year?

Frankly, maybe a massive exodus (short of a coaching change we can't afford) might be the best answer at this point just to rework the team dynamic. I'd rather have a new set of players with less talent that gel with each other and win a game instead of a talent laden team that can't put together 40 minutes of well played basketball. Some recent USA Olympic teams come to mind, a great coach and the best players doesn't always equal a win on the court.

If we lost 4 players from our we're eliminating 4 guys from a lineup that only pulled out 2-5 wins in conference play this year. If it's an intangible like team unity, or ego, or inability to learn, or a cancer in the locker room a line change may not be bad. Maybe the problem leaves with them. Not knocking all the guys on the team, but for some reason they aren't playing well together and I don't think it's the talent level because they have shown in short stretches they can be competitive with top 10 teams.

Oh trust me it is. I know what went down during the holidays when he was back in SC. There is a whole ton more to the story than 99% of fans know. I pm'd C-Willy and told him I would keep it off of the boards here to prevent a mid season melt down of fans. Too bad that kind of happened anyway from other players...

I heard rumors of something along this line as well.

pm me

The question is will there be more conference wins this year than players leaving the team? Here comes a mass exit.
