Sounds good as long as the service they give you actually performs at 12mbps. CenturyLink sold me 7mbps about 4 years ago and didn't find out until after everything had been paid and installed that they could only get 3mbps service where I live. They insisted they had the capability out here before I signed up, but then didn't do **** for me afterwards. Got away from them as fast as I could.
That I don't know. The advertised speed is 12 mbps. I have a 30 day money back guarantee just in case I get it and the speed tests show is is severely underperforming.

I really wish Mediacom would have negotiated with me though. In the 2.5 years I have lived in CR, Mediacom only had 1 major outage where I lost service for longer than an hour. I told the lady when I was cancelling what I would be paying at Centurylink and asked if they can match it. The best she offered was 50 mbps, 350 cap for $50/month but it's a 2 year contract. I really don't want to be locked for 2 years.

I had Sling TV, but dropped it because of the connection quality. The picture was good but I would occasionally lose the channel as Sling buffered. (This was on Roku 3, after I initially used Sling on Xbox One where this buffering/dropping occurred MUCH more frequently.)

Is PlayStation Vue any better? I'd especially be curious to hear from anybody who's used both, and especially especially on Roku as I know this can vary a lot from device to device.

Also is CBS not available on Vue? I can't get OTA signal where I live so I need the networks through whatever service I get.

For me it looks like it'll actually be $10 cheaper on Vue. I just upgraded my Sling to the $40 package in order to get FS1, NBC Sports, etc. I also had to pay $5 more to get the package that contains MSNBC (because they show Indycar races). I can get all of those channels, without losing anything I care about, for $35 on Vue. Going to start my free trial tonight.
It takes a lot of exploring and playing around to get used to it. At least after being w directv for 10 years.
We will be upping our data in sept once
I read that Vue has cloud DVR. Does that mean that I can record espn to watch later or is it just certain channels?

I was on 50/350 and went to 100/999 for 10 bucks a month.

I've learned to resign for 12 months and they drop the price. I'm still in the discounted price. $45 w discount. $65 w upgrade.

I tried to sign up for Vue. What a mess. Create a PlayStation account. Sign up for the trial. Oh you have to activate on a TV. Don't have that option. Cancel and delete credit card. F Sony.

I have definitely been debating using Playstation Vue for awhile now. Glad to hear people are liking it. This is the future of TV. I bet cable / satellite TV will be dead by the end of the decade as they stand today. Channels by demand and Channel apps are totally changing TV for the better.

Getting a service that is completely digital does take some user effort, did you expect an app to appear out of thin air? ... Maybe your experience is different than mine, but it took me no more than 5 mins to have it set up on my fire tv box and my ps4 ... That included downloading the app and signing in ...

I completely agree with this ... People will argue about live action moments such as sports as the reasons why cable/satellite will always be around ... So what if i watch that game winning shot 30 seconds later than you did, still got to see it but at a fraction of the cost ... As long as espn/abc, fox sports, cbs, and nbc are getting their share of revenue from these streaming services they will have no issue providing these services that prompt their business ...

I've spent much of today troubleshooting my CenturyLink modem. Waiting now for Best Buy to send me a Netgear Nighthawk with VDSL modem. While dealing with CL I found out that I have a "limit" of 250 GB per month. I also found that I've been around 700 GB every month since having PSVue. The cool thing is that they haven't throttled or capped my service. I have gotten no warnings about it either. From the customer service folks that I spoke with I doubt they will. I only pay $36 for my 20 Mbps download, with a weak .8 Mbps upload. They don't offer anything faster for me.

So if they ever throttle or cap me I will be forced to move to Mediacom, which will up my bill to probably twice what I pay now to only pay $45 for PSVue. Not sure that will be worth it.

When we left DirecTV they offered some small discounts. But when they shipped the boxes for the DVRs they knew I was serious and put the full court press on. I think the last offer was NFL Sunday ticket, movie channels for a few months, $200 or $300 gift card and my monthly bill would've dropped from $120 to $80. Frankly, if I wouldn't have paid for Amazon prime and bought two Fire TVs before this offer I would've stayed with DTV. If you want the best deal from DTV, cancel and have them ship the boxes. You will get bombarded with real offers.

You will get at least one call before they shut your service off and another couple after they shut it off.

Century link will diconnect your service after a few months of going over. Speaking from experience.

Youre going to have to do all of that for every online service and smart tv app. Sorry to break it to you.

Unfortunately the offers are only $20 a month, plus lots of hidden fees for a year, then back to full price for another year locked into a contract after that. Directv is great, best service and content out there. but right now it's not worth it to us.

Actually, I've heard Apple TV is going to improve this a lot more in the future. I can't remember what they call it, but you will sign in with your provider account, and then it will automatically download and authorize all the apps that you can access. It was presented at their last Apple event and probably will be released this fall. Not sure if it works with PS VUE as I know PS doesn't list them as a compatible product.

So PS Vue apparently has broadcast channels for the major cities. Has anyone tried to set one of these as their home market to get these channels? Could they really track where you are?

PS Vue geolocates you based off of your IP address when you sign up. If you really wanted to you could probably VPN it, but to get local channels is not worth it I wouldn't think. I guess I live in DM so I can get the locals on an indoor antenna so that's easy for me. I have had PS Vue for two months and absolutely love it. You get a ton for what you pay for I think

I'm thinking of going with PS Vue instead of Sling this fall/Winter because it offers ESPN and FS1 rather than forcing me to choose between the two. Question for people that have it - does it come with a WatchESPN login? I assume it does, but figure its worth making sure. I watch a lot on my phone so don't want to go with the Vue if I can only watch when I'm in my living room.
