Cracks in the B1G?

So.... if a "Superleague" is created, would you watch it? College fans are pretty passionate about their schools, and if yours is not in there, I'm guessing they won't watch. I know I won't.
IMO as a general rule as people get older they reprioritize things. In my 20 I was a die hard college and pro FB watcher along with MBB. Now ISU maybe another nonB1GSEC game for FB. ISU for BB B12 games and a few random games until the tourney.

But maybe I'm the exception? Heck if we are posting on this board we are more attentive than most.

I'm trying to come up with 20 teams that could financially form a Super League.

Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma, USC, Tennessee, Penn State, Florida, Clemson, Florida State, Auburn, Miami, Texas Tech, Nebraska

Am I including or omitting someone obvious? I'd feel confident in ISU being competitive, but financially....

Missing Iowa. Their fans are sure they are part of the super league.

I would put in Auburn instead of TTU. At least in terms of brand power.

I put together a 20 team super league in another thread and it was EXACTLY the same except for Auburn instead of Tech.

Goes to show how clear that gap is.

He has Auburn in his list, looks like you had Ole Miss instead of Tech. Point remains, just adding clarity for my own understanding.

Auburn is in already

As a few mentioned, I included Auburn. You have Ole Miss instead of Tech. It's probably a coin flip at the end of that list. I just know that Tech has the big donors that could earn them a seat at the table. They just never get mentioned due to Big XII vs SEC.

Tech could certainly afford to hang.

But if something like that developed, it would have more to do with TV ratings and I'm guessing Ole Miss does better on that front.

I'm sure someone mentioned this already, but in the event the Super Conference thing ever comes to fruition, adding relegation/promotion would be an interesting twist. The same core would likely never change, but rotating the bottom 3-4 teams would be a great way to keep fan interest and still keep viewers eyes on the "lower level" teams from a network's money-generating standpoint.

It would account for down cycles to prevent some team from becoming the eternal basement dweller.

Boy, are the guys that go 0-12 in the 20 team super league going to be embarrassed or what?

They have to get in line behind historic Camp Randall. Our stadium is older, was originally a civil war training camp, and we also recognize sick children from the local children’s hospital, but without patting ourselves on the back
Then you are doing it all wrong.

In theory, it would only improve someone's budget in lower level. It would force the marginal teams in the Super League to spend wisely in case of a downturn.

However, if promoted correctly, the viewership revenue would increase. Some games that may not otherwise get any eyeballs would get a lot more attention.

Of course. now there would be multiple levels of "eye tests" to prevent relegation or encourage promotion in the likely event of a tie breaker.

Yep....schools just must know most fans will still pay and deal with it. Greed is the reason Washington flies to play Rutgers vs playing Oregon ST.

I wish some huge entity with billions to spend would just buy out every conference, make it a league, and then reset divisions, but hey a guy can dream right?

Maybe that’ll be Steve Ballmer’s next venture when the NBA makes him sell the Clippers.

Competitive with that group? We would definitly be in the bottom 3. The super league needs to have another 20 teams minimum. I can't see any of those teams wanting to only play the listed teams. Split them up add teams like Iowa, ISU, MN, WI, KST, MO, GTech, TCU, Boise, AZ, AZST, CO, UT, Wash, IN, and a few east coast teams. That would be awesome!!
