Concerts This Spring/Summer

Mumford and Sons, KC, next weekend

Just scored some last minute tickets to Mumford tonight... Pretty pumped for the show...

other Shows planning on attending... OAR in Des Moines and KC in July and Farm Aid in KC in August.

Headed to Telluride Bluegrass Festival in about 2 hours.

Tim O'Brien & Kevin Burke
12:15 - 1:30pm — The Head and The Heart
2:00 - 3:15pm — Cornmeal
3:30 - 4:45pm — Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper
5:15 - 6:30pm — Steve Earle & the Dukes (& Duchesses) featuring Allison Moorer
7:00 - 8:30pm — Sarah McLachlan
9:00 - 11:00pm — Telluride House Band featuring Sam, Béla, Jerry, Edgar, Bryan & Stuart
I'm pretty pumped for the entire lineup but those last three should send me home with a good taste in my mouth.

Pumped for a good summer/fall of music. Saw the Foo Fighters in CB in May. Going to both days of the Pearl Jam Festival at Alpine, then seeing the Foo Fighters again with Rise Against in the Twin Cities. Follow that up with a little Explosions in the Sky here in Des Moines. I am also strongly considering attending the one at the KC Speedway with Muse and Eminem because he's my favorite rapper and Muse is simply amazing.

So a few of my friends and I are coming over to Des Moines for the OAR concert on 7-26 @ Val-Air Ballroom. Never been there before.. What can you guys tell me about it.. Like were to get some drinks close by before the show, how many people it holds etc. Anything.

Thanks!!

Whatever the temp is outside add about 40 degrees and that is what it will be inside.

Nice - I'm extremely jealous. I've been wanting to make my way out to Telluride this festival for years and still haven't made it. Are you camping or where are you staying? Have fun!!

nice:shocked:
Plenty of places to nab drinks before the show. Small little dive bars. None will be crazy.
Nice handle. We just got back from the DMB Chicago Caravan (Sunday marked my 50th DMB show). Solid times, bad venue. Not an O.A.R. fan, but they were decent this weekend.
Other shows coming up:
U2-Minneapolis (7/23)
Phish-UIC (8/15-17)

We camped about 5 miles outside town. There's a shuttle that is pretty reliable that takes you into town.

This was my third time at Telluride and this one was clearly the best. There were a ton of good acts, but a few stood out. Chris Thile and Michael Daves are on a serious tear right now and if you haven't heard Chris Thile, you're missing one of our generations truly great musicians. Old Crow was a really nice surprise. I didn't know what to expect from them, but they put on a great show. Other than the screaming girls, Mumford and Sons was fantastic even in the rain. Robert Plant can still sing and he threw in 5 or 6 LZ songs. Cornmeal is a lesser known band from Chicago, but they definitely made some new fans out there. There were several other great shows and I would recommend this festival to anyone that likes acoustic music. It is a bluegrass festival, but there are a range of acts. It is a magical place and you won't find a better crowd or setting.

Hoping for Lucero in the Quad Cities in April.

Damn.. Sucks thats on a tue night.. be a long trek there an back from clear across Iowa... I know a few people that would go with me... but not going to take the time off...

DMB once they are back on the road, back up in Alpine Valley. Sleigh Bells is coming to Iowa City, I would love to catch them. Coldplay in Chicago this summer and I'm sure more will start popping up here shortly.
