Concerts This Spring/Summer

89.7 The River Rockfest. May 13th @Westfair in Council Bluffs. Lineup in no certain order: Stone Sour, Seether, Hollywood Undead, 10 Years, Escape The Fate, My Darkest Days. Pretty cool show, and tickets are only 10 bucks.

This is causing drama in my relationship. My girlfriend is a huge DMB fan while they're not my cup of tea. The Midwest festival falls on my birthday weekend. She wants to think I'm going, I know I'm not :twitcy:

Dude, have you ever even been to a DMB show, let alone a festival where they're playing? You probably wouldn't know a good time if it backhanded you in the face. :twitcy: I'm sure there's plenty of other fellas who would be willing to take your place in this situation - I'd be one of them if I wasn't married now. Not trying to be a jerk, I'm just questioning your thought process here.

Agree with u, DMB is lame....

You obviously haven't been to a DMB show. Open your mind and give it a chance, I doubt you'd regret it. Haven't you ever heard the phrase, "Dave warms 'em up and I lay 'em down"? Even if DMB isn't your favorite band, I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy the show and atmosphere. DMB and their fans like to have a good time. It doesn't hurt that they're kicka$$ musicians either.

Just trying to help you guys out here...... There's a reason DMB sells out shows every year throughout the world, and I assure you, it's not because they're lame.

haha this reminds me of the Alpine show in 06... The band comes out and opens with DDTW.... and killed it... And Dave calls out a fan in the crowd... Talking about the fan acting like he is all cool.. standing there while everyone around his is going crazy..... Then hes like Come on Mother ****** you know your mind is blown..... but the way he says it.... Well only people that have seen a DMB show could understand....

The Pixies are in Milwaukee on April 23 at The Rave's Eagles Ballroom

Thank god someone in this thread has some good musical taste.

What's with all the Dave Matthews Band fans? I mean I understand you can like who ever you like, but Dave Matthews is annoying to me.

And 80/35 is a sweet music venue I highly recommend it and have been every year.

The Pixies are also performing @ Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul on 4/24/11.

I realize that some people are turned off by DMB (which is fine by me), and you are obviously one of them; however, these are generally people that don't know much about the band, their extensive catalogue of music and/or they've never been to one of their live shows. Maybe you fall into that category, maybe you don't.

I guess I would ask you, what specifically annoys you about Dave? Is it Dave the person, his voice, the whole band, the fans, the song Crash, all of the above? I consider myself a pretty big DMB fan and have been to many live shows, but I even get annoyed with some of DMB's popular radio songs and don't necessarily care for all of their studio stuff. With that said, the annoyances are just a drop in the bucket with all things considered and these guys are simply incredible musicians. On top of that, DMB is just a group of cool, down to earth guys that most people can relate to. They don't have the holier than though attitudes that a lot of other rock stars have and that's always been appealing to me personally.

I personally think that Dave is a musical genious - both lyrically and musically. He writes a little of everything, which is pretty symbolic of life in general. Some if it is light-hearted, up-beat and fun......while some of it is pretty dark, heavy and borderline crazy. DMB has a song for every mood if you know where to look.

Anyway, to each his own. I just thought I'd give you a little perspective from a DMB fan and just a fan of "good" music in general..........and yes, I'm planning to go to the Pixies show on 4/24 for my birthday.

:elvis:

I don't like his voice and the fact that all of his songs sound about the same (to me), I'm just not a fan of him or his music I guess.

I am however a big Flaming Lips fan, and a lot of people don't like them (or get their music) so I guess we have some things in common.

Mumford And Sons in Council Bluffs on June 14th. Just $35.00, that is a bargain.

Big day tomorrow for Pearl Jam junkies like myself, for they will announce where PJ20 will be this summer. Most on Tenclub are feeling that it will be at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin....we shall see shortly!!!

Here's my summer list: Kid Cudi July 12, Eddie Vedder, July 2, Mumford June 5th, John Legend and Sade possibly, Sleigh Bells possibly, Black Keys both in St. Paul...should be a great summer.

Pearl Jam announced they will headline its 20th anniversary concerts September 3-4 at Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wisconsin. Also performing will be the Strokes, Queen of the Stone Age, Mudhoney, John Doe, Joseph Arthur, Glen Hansard and Liam Finn.

Pretty pumped. Think I'm going to go for the Sunday show. ISU home opener on Saturday, Pearl Jam on Sunday. Hell yes.
