It would have been nice to see him stick around and develop behind Morris. Good luck to him though. He seems like a good kid.

I don't get the Morris to NBA stuff. He isn't even being talked about for the NBA. The only place I see anyone saying that is on here.

I would have been very disappointed to not try to recruit over Clayton. Not being mean but that would have been a bad thing for ISU basketball in my opinion.

Interesting. Think we look for a transfer/high school pg or just count on Cooke/Georges/Naz during the short time Monte is out?

Hate to see him go, think he could have helped us down the road. We definitely need backup help at the PG position and the fact Clayton is a PG and is leaving indicates that Cooke is better able to handle PG duties and/or Fred has a plan to bring in someone better to backup Monte.

Certainly gives us more options now on the transfer market for this year, as well as for recruiting in the future.

I'll add my sentiments to those wishing him the best. He committed to ISU early on and was very candid about his excitement in coming here. I remember reading an article about him after the Kansas screw job at Hilton where he was so mad he went to his high school that night and put up shots for a couple hours. He was a great teammate and you never heard a bad word about the kid. I too was looking forward to seeing him develop as a player but I completely get it. It seems amicable and it he's leaving with all the class you'd expect.

Best of luck Clayton, wherever you end up and thanks for the time you put in at ISU.

Only a matter of time till Marcus Foster too. RT @GoodmanESPN: Jevon Thomas and Tre Harris both transferring from Kansas State.

could we make a run at foster? any rules against transferring in conference?

Wow, what a mess KSU has become in two years. I wonder who they have coming in...the idea of losing Foster, Gipson, Nino Williams, Jevon Thomas and Tre Harris is going to leave a smoking crater there.

And so begins the Nick Noskowiak speculation, although he'd sit for a year right?

why would he sit? He's high school. Also that ship has sailed twice.

But a transfer point guard that had to sit would be ideal.

If you aren't trying to recruit over the players you have you are doing it wrong. It shouldn't be taken as something mean spirited when ISU is doing what every other program out there is trying to do - upgrade their talent.

Wisconsin didn't release Uthoff to Iowa. He had to pay his own way the first year and couldn't be part of the team
