Casey's Making Another Acquisition

Of the six Casey's stores in my area of Northern Iowa, five are honestly bordering on disgusting. The stores are dirty, bathrooms are unclean, and the help is lazy.

The one nice Casey store I have actually complimented the managers of it's appearance and cleanliness.

As a family we used to get pizza on Sunday evenings from Casey's...I wouldn't even consider this as on option today.

Casey's changed their inputs on their "by the slice" pizzas and cut them way back. If my option is two hammered thin pieces of Casey's pizza and a fountain drink for almost $9 or a stop at Kwik Star, I'm stopping at KS 10 times out of 10.
2 slices and a pop are a hair over 6 bucks. I’m not fan of them but don’t overinflated the prices.

I mean if they put out a smaller footprint yeah sure. But then are they really a Buc-ee's? Their whole existence/business model is built on being huge and over the top.

They do have a few smaller locations. There is one in league city tx that is normal gas station sized. I don't think they had the entire department store attached, but they had most of the other major items. Just scaled down to normal proportions. Still had that jalapeno white cheddar popcorn which I think should be listed as a schedule 1 narctoic.

That said, Buc-ee's understands their business model pretty well. Stupidly large stores right on the interstate and only outside of major cities. I don't think they will ever be the small town C-Store setup that caseys or kwik star or quick trip are going for.

Personally I'd take Casey's 10 times out of 10 over Dominos

Dominos Pan pizza is legit. Also their stuffed breads are really good. Regular hand tossed crust is garbage. Price to quality to speed ratio is off the charts for Domino’s imo.

Caseys is also good but the staff is overworked now that they have a million other items to deal with and it shows in accuracy and quality.

And Caseys eliminated subs in most places which sucks for me.

When we moved back to Iowa, we picked up a Casey's pizza one night.

Both of us (wife/me) proceeded to spend the rest of the night vomiting.

Casey's Pizza is still good in my neck of the woods. My wife doesn't agree, but I find it superior to all of the other chainy-quick places like Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Dominos etc. Single slices are all still respectably sized too. Expensive yes, but they aren't tiny.

The gas stations quality is determined by where they're located IMO. We've got 4 in town, and 2 are in parts of town suffering from low socioeconomic conditions. I avoid those, because they are generally dirty, have vandalism and/or damage, and you can walk into one and count the number of teeth other folks have on one hand. The other 2 are in better parts and in more updated facilities and have much better upkeep and staff that actually care or at least fake it well enough.

Buc-ee's isn't going to stray away from their strategic interstate locations. Honestly, they are more of a tourist attraction than anything. Stopping at Buc-ee's is a huge pain in the a$$.
Build one close to north 35/80 interchange and it would be gold mine. buc-ees is moving into Kansas City on the Kansas side out by the racetrack.

We love to stop at the ones in Texas and Kentucky or Tenn,

I have 3 Casey’s within 3 miles of my house (not sure why). 2 of them put out decent pizza. The other is hit and miss at best. I don’t know how it can vary so much from store to store. Sometimes the crust is nice and puffy, sometimes more like NY thin.

And one keeps putting out breakfast pizza with gravy on the by the slice server. But they have printed tags now that only have a little mention of gravy in 4 pt font. So I’ve been fooled and it’s the most disgusting thing I’ve had.

Casey's is on our no fly list

Maybe there's a wide range of quality between stores. The closest store to me is 100% garbage for pizza.

I mean it's so bad I have to believe there are better. No one would defend this place.

It would be a nightmare. The one on I-10 at the Gulf Shores, AL exit literally backs traffic up on the interstate. That tourist trap can stay south for all I care.
