I'm 30. Wearing clothes that don't fit is not a good look no matter what age. The only dorks still wearing long/baggy shorts are 25-45 year old super seniors. College kids don't wear long, baggy shorts unless they're from Clarinda.
Gotta get those deep knee bends in.Vintage coach's shorts. I prefer MacGregor or BIKE but fully understand that not everyone has the bank for that.
Oh, we remember. And we remember what our friends and our fathers looked like in those silly things.
Also, cargo shorts are pretty helpful with kids. When you're walking around a fair or amusement park you need every inch of pocket space you can get and this is compounded by the fact that you can't carry a wallet in your back pocket anymore because a. it looks dumb and b. it causes sciatica.

I switched to front-pocket carry a while back. Best thing ever.
I’ve always been a plain chinos shorts guy and generally skipped cargo shorts. I have three kids and just don’t see what issues cargo shorts would solve for me that a backpack or cinch bag doesn’t address. Some of my view may have to do with owning a pair of cargo shorts and hating the feel of the weight of all the fabric and seams rubbing on my legs. It wasn’t a fashion issue for me as I’m not fashion driven I just found cargo shorts horribly uncomfortable.
Now the sciatica thing I totally get. I got sciatica at 30 9 years ago from a bad disc and switched to a front pocket card carrier and ditched the wallet and would never go back. I do like some of the golf and hiking shorts that have the hidden zipper pocket on the outseam, those are great for keeping the card carrier in. Ditching the wallet took some time but it’s great once you realize you don’t need to carry everything. I carry a debit, 2 credit, insurance card, and ID, that’s it. Everything else I keep at home and have a copy of in phone. A friend of mine has a 2 inch thick wallet and can’t explain why he needs everything or what is all in there, his answer is always “I might need it”.
I think business have realized this and switched away from having to have physical cards for everything. When I'm at Hy-Vee I hear more and more people just give a phone number rather than scan the card.
